Hi guys,

I've shoved up a TGC community chat page on my website if you want to check it out. It's a HTML5 chat system so works with iPad, Mobiles, Desktops etc.

This site isn't moderated by TGC or associated with them, I've just put it on my private website because I keep seeing users wanting to communicate in real time.

www.teachyourselfstuff.com

It's nothing fancy, but it works if you want to give it a go.

If it becomes popular enough then I'll put some more work into it.

Nice. Can you add me? Is it the same AUP as here?

Well that's cool. Think it'll suit people's needs nicely.

Will there be any rules? I suppose common sense ought to suggest what's acceptable behaviour, but it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I was never really part of the old chat room, so despite being a veteran TGC member, it's all new to me.

Seems like a good chat, perhaps you should sticky this thread so it dosn't die when this thread falls down

If you want to register a user name e-mail me your real name, e-mail and desired username, send it to [email protected] and I'll get around to them as soon as I can. I have to do it all manually so please be patient.

I'm not bothering with an AUP, common sense applies. If you're abusive or start causing trouble for chatters then I'll lock the channel down, force registration, and deny guest access. This means you'll have to login with your twitter or facebook accounts, or wait for me to assign you an account. This isn't ideal, and naturally I don't want to take these measures. So for the moment I'll leave it open and see what heppens. If there's a big problem with someone then just e-mail the registration address and I'll look into it.

Is irc.devhat.net still around? That was a pretty good IRC network for things related to DarkBASIC and game development in general.

Raven is apparently still active in some IRC chat. An oldie who returned not to long ago made that claim anyway.

Why this isn't sticked?

Well, at this moment in time there are only 15 people on the forums. So I'm not surprised the chat is quiet.

Do you expect a chatroulette? It's a chat for those who want to chat not on forum.

If you all want to meet together why not establish a time. At the moment everyone pops in randomly, see's no chat and then logs off. If you all agree to be there between x O Clock and x O Clock you won't keep missing each other.

I think I'll leave the community to work that one out my schedule is completely random at the moment. Perhaps we should just hold a vote.

Everyone over the next week state the time you'd most like to see users turn up for a chat and we'll make it official.

To prevent confusion please state your time in GMT. You can convert your local time http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.co.uk/gmt-converter/ using that link.

My shifts vary, but I'm normally online in the afternoon and sometimes evenings (GMT). Normally between 20:00 and 22:00 I'm watching TV. and 18:00 and 19:00 is usually food. Except of course when I finish work at 20:00.

So I guess I could do my part and be socialable sometime in the evenings.
