Unfortunately you do need the developer license first. Otherwise you cannot do the provisioning on your iPhone that is needed to test apps.

In theory, you could use the iPhone simulator. But that doesn't work if you use the accelerometer at all.

Well, you will need the license if you plan to publish with them. So you would need to get it at some point.

@haliop

(at ms you can't use your own software if you not a paying developer.
ms want 99$ each year.)

You could allways jailbreak your device and download the unsigned player...

Like Zoq says, if your Apple device is jailbroken you can install the AppGameKit Player directly without needing an Apple license. TGC include an unsigned AppGameKit Player in your downloads that can easily be installed on such devices.

well i wasted alot of money for developing on the iphone and got nothing back from it droid is a good alternative. If your app gets recognition from android maybe then goto apple.

Developer of Space Chips, pianobasic, zipzapzoom, and vet pinball apps. Developed the tiled map engine seen on the showcase. Veteran for the military.

first of all i will not hack into my phone even if its the last thing i'll do ... i dont like it..
if i hack i actally agree that hacking is good... apple just needs to change its policy about developers or more likely indie developers..

like if i pay 1 dollar just to get certificate for "testing" and 99 for "publishing ability"... not only that they also take 30 percent out of your products.. and they make tons of money only for selling Iphones and Ipads... not too mention their Macs are way over priced..and you simply dont get much better then other pcs like dell or Asus etc...

so i just hate apple for these stupid policies

besides that
i am planning on releasing (working Title) Nano 1.23 on all avaible markets so everyone can use it if they choose to..

i'll just pay the 99 and keep in my heart , Apple sux .

And furthermore, there is almost no way for MS to even be aware if you write programs for your own computer. They do provide a very wide variety of tools just so that you can develop your own programs. And not necessarily with any intent on selling them, either.
