First off I know someone is going to say go buy a new computer and I would do that if I could but at this time I am not in the position to do it.

I have spent the better part of the past year learning to program C++ and DBP. I am really getting rather burned out on programming and need a break for a while. I want to get into FPSC and Graphics more. I may really get into it and never look back! Anyway!!!

I have a very low end laptop a Sony Vaio. I can run and use some 3D graphics programs on it. Milkshape, Blender, I ran a Lightwave 9.3 trial I got with a book. I tried a FPSC shader tutorial someone from the forums made and I did not get the results of the tutorial.Any tips on how to get decent results with FPSC and a low end PC?

Thanks

open fpsc and go in to preferences, bring down the 'lighting shadows' and 'texture quality' when you do that. Click ok, and that should bring down some of the resources that get sucked up on your computer. Also, are you using a lot of dynamic entities? If you use a static entity, it becomes part of the map and shouldn't suck up much of your resources. If my memory serves me right, hope this helps!..

I understand that and I am nowhere close to putting anything out but if I were how could you make something on a low end PC and have it look good if someone else runs it on a better computer? just an example If my computer's video chip or card does not support shaders which it probably does not how can I apply shaders? I would not be able to test to see if they are applied and working properly.

Why not make a game that doesn't depend on shaders and graphics. Make a game that is fun to play.

I made Impuzzable for the lower end PC's. No shaders, no lights, just ambience set at 65.

It loads super fast and (in my opinion) is still a good game. Not the best looking, but, it plays well with no lag and no bugs.

Unfamillia.

(Download my game and play it, take a look at what i mean)

I would turn full screen shaders off in the setup.ini if you have a low end machine as this does eat up a bit of cpu.
