I want to do a simple texture edit to TheScaryThinker's machete weapon, but when I change the machete_D2.tga file, it comes up as normal. When it is laying in the level, the edited texture is visible, but when I pick it up, it goes back to normal. Is there any way for the edited texture to show on the actual weapon, or does it only work as an entity in the level?

Normally you dont need to delete bin and dbo to make texture changes.
However the first time you place an entity in editor the texture used will display and any changes aren't reflected in the editor view, though they will in test or as you have found when picked up or right clicked, when you delete the bin file which contains texture reference, and reopen FPSC, it will display your new texture in the editor.

I deleted the bin and dbo files and it changed nothing. Although, when I look at the entitybank before testing, it has one machete_D2 file. When I come out of testing, it makes another machete_D2 file, which I cannot open. I suspect that this is the case...

This is what it looks like in the folder:

FPSC will create a dds for use when the original used is in .tga format, it might with other formats I don't know. You should save out your edited texture as .dds.

Tried that, didnt work again...
I tried making it a separate entity as well, but then it just didnt appear

Edit:
I made the machete a separate entity with the new texture in the user folder and this time it worked. However, the weapon texture is still not different. I can only assume that you cannot change this weapon texture. Yes, it is in a .dds file

Howdy,

I might be wrong, but i think you are only editing the entity itself, the pickup, laying on the floor. But you need to alter another picture, namely the one in Gamecore. Thats the 'entity' you hold in your hands after picking it up from the floor.

1. entitybank\The Scary Thinker\Weapons\Melee\machete_D2.tga
2. gamecore\guns\The Scary Thinker\Machete\gun_D2.dds

Thanks so much Anubis, this worked. Although, I had to change gun_D as well as gun_D2, but they are the same texture so I just copied it and renamed it. Thanks a lot!
