Geek Culture / New app idea.. need your opinions

hey all. i was thinking of yet another project to my collection
im sure untill now every1 knows and used some of my Goga's Plugins from the collection (who is dbp programmer)
and some of you even used my AdvUpdater app to create updates/installs of your own game.

and now, im still thinking on the same road wich is to help developers with their work;
i was planning to make an app that has lots of textures. tiled and bump and so on.
the app i guess gonna be free, the server will run on my sub laptop and since the textures wont be my personal textures, i wont charge anything on them
althought i do plan to earn money on some of it.
it may be ads or feedbacks.

so 2 questions here are asked;
1) is any1 will use a tool where there are lots of textures?
2) how should make a money earning system out of it?

yeah i know all of those websites.
but i was thinking of an a tool/app not a website
baislcy my server will exlore all of those texturing websites and link them to the app.. that was my idea..

I suspect you'll find that the ToS of each of the respective sites will state you may not use their IP for profit.

You get 500MB extra space on Dropbox... I get 500MB extra space on Dropbox

What I think is a nice idea; which is in my list for a tool that I am making; is to make a texture browser that lets your organize textures, show their information and uploads them onto a server.

You should get the permission on that from every site, otherwise it is illegal, because such sites have their EULA with restrictions about texture redistribution.

Edit: from cgtextures:

My advice: do something else, an useful and original tool, a tool that we've never seen before.

and the idea behind that is not making money by selling textures but by feedbacks or ads. im not sure.

Distribute means sharing them in "your" texture packs. You really need to get the permission.

By the way, that line is just weird:

yup.
my idea was downloading the textures, but providing a link where the "original" texture found..

but i guess its a bad idea anyways.. since there are such a great websites for that..

A low powered laptop will be serving a website you want a lot of people to access?

im expert on server making.. doing it from scrach.. i can make one that runs on phone

dont worry about the power saving and stuff. haha

I was talking about the server bandwidth and data throughput. Anyone can make a server, but ultimately no-one will be able to access it if the device serving it is underpowered...

if you didnt know, tiled textures are very small..
my laptop can handle this bandwidth dont worry

but enough chitchat about that i guess

I have a need for your ZIP plugin, but it is a commercial project and so I can't have a popup that tells the person to go to goge.byethost13.com (which I think you let expire, because it is rampant with ads now).
