A good place to start is BlackFox's "Using Global Variables (globalvar)- The Basics" here...http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=192148&b=23
Also looking thru the syntax list on variables helps to understand.
They seem complicated at first, but it's just basically a counter.
