As many of you may know FPS Files, an amazing community service, announced it would be shutting down a few weeks ago due to the developer TeMpLaR1 ending support for the site. I know this site has helped me and many others in the community make the most out of FPS Creator and I didn't want to see it close down.

As a result I have asked TeMpLaR1 if I can take over operation of the site, which he agreed too. The site will be operating under the new domain listed below due to a few factors limiting the use of the old domain. Unfortunately by the time I had seen that the site had closed the files had been deleted and the site removed. I therefore ask any of the amazing content creators out there to upload any content that they may have to the site.

The site will open over the next few weeks for people to once again be able to download files but until then the site offers an upload system for content creators it would be great if we could get some content ready for the site to go live.

Note: The site has been tested but any issues with uploads or the form operation please let me know and I will fix.

I don't think I have my old files anymore; but if I come across them, I'll send them to you.

Do you accept model packs? I don't see an option for them on the upload form.

@xplosys

That would be great, the form is now altered to allow upload of model packs as a category option, I have tested a file size of 40MB and the server should allow up to 400MB. If it is larger than that I can try to increase or provide FTP upload. On slow connections you may time out when using the web upload so FTP may be easier.

I am aware there is a lack of some information on the form at the moment (theme,extra images,etc) I will be adding to this at a later date and can alter your uploads at that time.

@MaximSokol

Good to hear, unfortunately unless they come as a model pack (in one zip file) or a few model packs, they will need to be uploaded separately into that form on the website. If you wish to upload very large files let me know and I can provide FTP access.

You should sell models there, like turbo squid, we can upload content and sell them, you would get a portion and we would charge what we wish.

there is turbo squid, but not just for fpsc, and if there where I think we would get more of a audience.

If not, I think I might just do this.

This may be possible in the future, however the TGC store does this role very well and I'm not sure the community would want such a service. However if they did I would be happy to devote the time to create such as system. I am not in this for a profit so if a margin was ever taken it would be small and for upkeep only.

there is a lot you have to do to get content into the store, on turbo squid there is not much I have to do but upload then its there as soon as I do, no approval and also no waiting to get approved to sell anything.

there store only allows x files as turbo squid allows max files and everything even down to a .obj file.

Just stuff to think about for you, I hope you do this for us, thank you for your time.

@michael x

Have been checking up on things just haven't posted in a long while, it is good to be back and hopefully I can help a few people out with this.

Everyone
On a side note I have enabled the upload form to now process as many image uploads as you wish. So you can have quite a few images with your files.

Well, if it helps you I am willing to theme your site on its completion. Also if you have Photoshop I can give you the logo in .psd form so you can use it for what ever you like.

I have uploaded it here.

Also on a side note if anyone types in fps-files.com it will redirect to your new domain.

.

Thanks all for the support you have given in the 7 or 8 years of FPS-Files.

Sorry for slow reply I have been away. That would be great and the logo PSD is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the redirect.

Hopefully we can get a few more uploads to the site to get a larger content base for the launch.

Can you also remove the FPS Files hosted avatar and signature image as they are causing a malware alert on this thread that blocks access in chrome.

Would it be possible to add "mod" and "code" categories? I'd like to upload the latest version of the community mod. Heck, in celebration of FPS-Files' return, I might actually patch it up for the latest version of FPSC.

Thanks for adding those categories, I'll start uploading as soon as I have stuff ready.

A little suggestion, if someone doesn't upload an image for their upload, could you make it so that the preview just defaults to the FPS-Files logo? That way, I won't need to find an image for a bit of code.

If you want some administrative help, I worked a lot with the old site and would be happy to stay on board with the new site as user support or any other position you need. I can navigate a user through most downloads, know my way around html and css, and am friendly enough as the old staff will vouch. Shoot me an email.

The Next,

You can use the few items i started to give away in a pack (that i never finished)

This is where you can find them. If you scroll down to the first post by me dated 17th Oct 2012 17:42

I hope they can be of some use to someone.

EDIT - Just went to the site and realised that I can upload the media myself. I will do it now - save you the hassle.

EDIT EDIT - I have just tried to upload some media and i got an error message telling me that the files had failed to upload and i need to contact admin. Would it be helpful if i uploaded them here?

Interesting that error occurs when the database write fails.

I Haven't had that happen yet would help me out if you could upload the file and also list what you put in each box so I can recreate the error and fix.

Sorry if anyone experienced downtime today (or just very slow) or for a little while longer after this post. There has been an issue with the server and I have datacenter staff working on it now for me should be sorted soon.

EDIT: The server will be down for a while longer we have a faulty drive and due to the setup of this server it has caused performance issues so I have turned off the FPS Files site and others to let the server run repairs to the drive until I can replace. Bit of a pain and a really late night for me.

EDIT 2: The server now appears to be stable it has still got one drive down but appears to be stable until I get over to the DC to replace it. What a pain.
