Hello, I'm currently doing a fullscreen HUD for my work in progress, project, I had an idea of where some HUD parts would be displayed, but some friends told me that it could possibly distract the player...

I've attached a screen of an early draft because the hud isn't finished yet, ( don't mind about the Pulse Rifle from AVP3, It's here as a placeholder only )

I would really like some opinions & crits about this before I finish my HUD.

Thank you

The great thing about opinions is that everyone has one. I like your basic concept with the HUD. I'll offer only two suggestions. Move your ammo counter to the upper left corner of the framed window so it doesn't interfere with what the player sees in the center of the screen. As for the frame, I wouldn't make it too fancy. It looks pretty good as it is. Good luck with your project.

I like the hud, but I think moving the ammo counter and/or health bar into the spaces out of the players screen, this perhaps would give the impression the hud is actually in the helmet, not on the glass in front of the player or whatever.

I just have one question, where did you get that weapon?

Agreed. I might nix it all together. If we're going high-tech, why have a frame at all? Aren't we advanced enough to make a display that doesn't restrict our view with a frame?

I agree! Its too much.

It will also look suboptimal once you amp up your resolution in the final build.

I'd advise you to use as little HUD as possible.
Your game looks decent from what I see here, no need to hide it under a 2D Hud Clusterhump!
