In short, I would like to get Fullscreen cartoon shader in FPSC.
I bought Dark Shader recently, because there is very nice looking Cartoon Outline shader. So, I exported it as .fx file and I was trying to get the same effect in FPSC. There is something wrong however, because that shader works only on gun's muzzleflash, bulletholes and smoke (during shooting). Maybe someone could advise me what I should to do (Maybe someone had the same problem as me). The rest of Fullscreen shaders from Dark Shader works very fine in FPSC, apart from cartoon shader.

Thanks in advance for any helpful answer.

By chance, did you set it up as a "post process" or some other method?

O.K. I'm thinking since your other shaders are working maybe it's the textures/formats your using? Try opening your .fx file and sometimes it lists what textures are needed. (i.e. _D2.dds or _N.dds) Worth a try.

I checked it before the moment. It appears that shader doesn't require any names of textures. BTW. Everything works fine in Dark Shader, when I import my own models.

Oh, indeed. However, I don't see any solution there. I made a screenshot that shows an incomplete effect

After doing some research, it appears this has been a problem for some time now. See if you have a shader that reduces the screen
colors? Also you could re-edit the textures to a solid color?

In another thread "uzi idiot-Post process Pack" asked about a cel shader he says
Quote: " no, I've tried before, for some reason it only ever works on decals and bulletholes, I have no clue why."

So your not the first to ask about this.

edit: Attached pic,is this something close to what your after?

I'd like to get the same effect as in this thread: http://www.fps-creator.eu/index.php?page=Thread&postID=4214&highlight=cartoon+shader#post4214
I was trying to convert my textures into a cartoon but the final effect wasn't what I expected.

I had some time and I looked into this. I think I found a really
nice toon shader that seems to work. Give me some time to test
to make sure it all works

No problem Snake200.
I have some free time, and it keeps me busy.
Here are a couple pics of what I have so far. I'm taking older cel shaders and playing with the settings. It's a very slow process.

Noticed the heavy shadow/blob ring in the second pic.
Trying to figure how to remove this I'll let you know.

I some how ?? (and don't ask) got rid of the ring shadow, but now have slight shadow blob under the entities. But better than before.

Working good on dynamic entities, but not all.

Entity on right in static, dynamic on left.

This last pic you can see the toon effect is o.k. but still problems with static entities, back left.

This is stunning. I'm looking forward to see where you're going with this. This is a style I'll enjoy playing with.

Thanks guys, but so far no luck on getting a "cartoon" shader to work on a static entity. I'm just using older "toon" & "cel" shaders and adj. the settings abit. But the static problem is driving me nuts.
Here's a few pics of tests so far...

As you can see, center object is static.

same....

Aijo has the shader of course, but the furniture here is static.
All I did here was to "cartoon" effect the textures in Gimp.

I had some spare time today and worked on this a little.
I still cant get static entities to show a "cel-shader". But
being static maybe it's best just to "cartoon-texture" them?
The dynamic entities run the shaders just fine, but you still have to do some texturing work. Paint.net, Gimp and Photoshop all have great effect filters(cartoonize, watercolor, postcard-edge are what I used) This is what I have so far. Oh yeah, runs fine on weapons also.

The furniture and wall segments I just cartoon textured as best as
I could. If you still need this let me know.
note: can't use post-process, only regular entity shaders with these.

@ s4real Very nice. Hope this works out. Much better look than these older "cel shaders".

@Snake200
Well I had some spare time...remember, these are not my shaders.
Just "Evolveds" Cel-shaders from the DBPro boards with some tweaks. They only work on dynamic entities. Not static. I did try
and combine "bumpent.fx and "toon.fx into one to work on static. The toon edge works good, but the bump doesn't now? Maybe someone
can have a look at it (it's in the zip "bumpent_celshader.fx)
The trick to this is a good "toon" texture. A "Read Me" included.
best luck

In case you haven't seen it yet, but S812 has posted some WIP
of his new mod which includes a very nice cartoon shader(full screen)! Just what you wanted.

Was wondering if you had any success with the cel-shader. Had some time and played with these some more. Finally was able to get the toon effect on both dynamic and static entities. Trick was to
change my thinking about the post-process.

The nice thing it's able to run the "illuminationent/map" also
for any lighting.

static & dynamic mixed.

weapons, thin fine line.
