This is way too cool to pass up! And I was really surprised to find that it runs on my crap Win XP machine, the same machine that won't run AppGameKit any more because of the sub-standard onboard graphics card.

Grats and looking forward to the next release!

Quote: "I saw you cancel your pledge"

when i tried to "upgrade" to the $25 level, KS still said that i'd (only) be charged $20 ("at the $25 level"). i figured i'd remove any doubt by cancelling and re-backing.

Quote: "And on the 11th, all playtesters and above will get a version with a save function!"

Yeehaw!

Quote: "I'd like to quote what you wrote above as well."

of course. feel free to re-work/tool as you see fit.

congrats on your first successful Kickstarter! 8 days to reach (more) stretch goals! (i'm hoping for the $6,500 level ).

almost forgot: AI's made the newsletter!

upped my pledge again because i want to see an achievement system (and cause IBOL to do more work on this)

less than 4 hours to go on the kickstarter and it's almost there!

Thanks, Nomad,
Yeah, I just sit around all day, doing nothing. More work is exactly what I need

Honestly, I made sure that my stretch goals were very financially affordable, but ALSO, that they were things I could do without overly much work...I already track tons of data about what the player does, so it's not too far off from giving them something for it.

I'm so glad it's over. (and also successful!)

backer version has been released at KS.

THANKS!

Well, everyone, most of the main features are implemented in some way! That means, Beta Status! I pursued the plan I put forth in "Forward Unto Beta", and I have succeeded a week early!

I got all these systems working:
Officers, crafting, variable movement speed, artifact identification, shipyard, and a temporary victory condition!

Right now, I'm working on upgrading the code to AGK1.08b19, so I can take advantage of some of the new commands.

For all who missed Approaching Infinity the first time around, it's coming to itch.io on January 31st for early access!

Stay tuned!

thoroughly enjoying the pre-beta experience and decided to put together a gameplay video:

(Warning: Sound is very loud!)

basic planet/cave/space exploration included in the vid but the additional features added are much appreciated (especially Officers):

keep it coming

i'm not the first to do it but after reaching sector 55 i decided to go back and claim the Amulet:

~65k turns? ~9.5 million credits? surely i'm on my way toward complete domination of all things celestial?

it takes a ship and a crew to get there so wanted to give credit where it's due (now @ sector 100) :

btw, want to add that the officers appear to be capped? most of them can't learn anything more.

finally, i've found the best thing about AI is that i can sit and play for 10 minutes and find new loot along with a sense of "accomplishment". ie, "instant gratification". i'm guessing this is the big boon of the genre; i wish i'd found it before. thanks, IBOL!

ack, just noticed that IBOL's a MOD. when did that happen?
