Here's a very basic top down car control example. I'm typing this on an iPad, so no idea if its syntactically correct. It assumes a top down view, with the camera looking down at a car object you've already made. It also assumes a constant sync rate so it doesn't go stupidly fast.
Speed# = 0
Maxspeed# = 10
Acceleration# = 1
Turnspeed# = 1
Do
// handle speed
If getrawkeystate(38) = 1 //up key
Speed# = speed# + acceleration#
If speed# > maxspeed#
Speed# = maxspeed#
Endif
Elseif getrawkeystate(40) = 1 //down key
Speed# = speed# - acceleration#
If speed# < 0
Speed# = 0
Endif
Endif
//handle turning
Angle# = getobjectangley(carObj)
If getrawkeystate(37) = 1 // left key
Angle# = angle# - turnspeed#
Elseif getrawkeystate(39) = 1 // key right
Angle# = angle# + turnspeed#
Endif
//move and turn car object
Moveobjectlocalz(carObj,speed#)
Setobjectrotation(carObj,0,angle#,0)
Sync()
Loop
