When I first started using the Internet my spam folder was full of messages trying to sell me stuff to enlarge this that or the other bit of my anatomy, or to meet a Russian vixen (why always Russian?), or to help a dying Nigerian pensioner dispose of their funds.

Now all I get is this:

Or is one set of "offers" an inevitable consequence of the other?

Just occasionally the spam folder contains something I want - like a TGC Newsletter.

Edit: fixed annoying typo.

I've started reporting repeated spam messages to their registrars.

This was the first response I got yesterday.

Then this morning I received this email:

So does actually pay off to report the spammers. Obviously it'd be very time-consuming to do it with every email, but when you are getting dozens from the same server then I say give it a shot!

Sounds good.

Makes you wonder why the internet companies don't stop this stuff.

That all is pretty simple.

Do you regulary clean your cookies?
Browse while logged into Google?
Have antispy extension to block your click tracing?

Don't be surprised if your next spam "cheap coffins!!!" message will contain your real name and address.

Compare prices on adjustable beds
Enjoy a worry-free vacation on a cruise
Don't forget about burial insurance
Find government subsidized housing today
Cradle yourself in an adjustable bed
Get your dental implants here

Oh my gosh. The first and last things on that list are utterly hilarious. Just goes to show the increasing interest of funeral homes and dentists in internet marketing.

This is quite a sad reliality of the internet, not your age. We all get spam email; spam text messages and now sponsered advertising relating to what ever personal information gets leaked out there. Reminds me of the following scene from Minority Report.
