for some reason when i double click on a file eg test.dba
I get the editor load up without the program and the error THERE WAS A PROBLEM SENDING THE COMMAND TO THE PROGRAM.
All i get is a blank page in my editor

I cab load the progam directly from the editor, but not by double clicking on the .dba

When i look in my folder the program says it a darkbasicpro editor document but it is not ending in .dba anymore ? And the icon looks like a hammer

Any ideas ?

I changed the file association so it opens with the darkbasic editor (the edititornew in the editor folder) the file lods ok but i cant press f5 to compile and run it

The compile options are greyed out in the menu ?????

Also if i just load the file (not project) and run it, i get s small black screen flash up and vanish and nothing else happens.

If i load a project though, it works fine ????

You should be double click to open the .dbpro project file instead of the .dba source file directly. The .dbpro file will load information the editor needs and will also load the .dba source automatically.

I had exactly the same problem after reinstalling DBPro after a fresh Windows 7 install. Could you take two screenshots: one from opening DBPro itself and one from clicking a DBPro file. In my case the blank one was using the old editor and I had to change the Open With option to use EditorNew.exe instead of Editor.exe. At least I think that's what I did - I'll have a quick look to see.

Edit Yes, that's what I had to do. Not sure I had to this time. This image shows what you should see after right-clicking a DBPro file followed by Properties/Open With:
