Am I the only one experiencing slow page loading most of the time on just this site? Driving me crazy...

I am not having that currently, but there have been many times in past where this site has done so for me.

Can confirm. It can take up to 30 seconds before a page loads, half of the time I even get this lovely error:

Pretty much anytime I visit the forum it takes 15-20 seconds to load the page. But once I've been connected for a few minutes changing pages is pretty fast.

I would say TGC needs better servers!

Wednesday? I've been getting this for at least a few months continuously, but only on TGC. Youtube, tumblr, e-mail, etc. all works fine.

TGC's servers aren't the best, it would seem. I heard talk of them switching to better servers, though

My pages load instantly. Sometimes it's a little slower, but I'd say loading has been pretty normal.

Makes me think of a certain someone and their lack of humor towards a certain gun joke....

I can't agree with this, but I understand the sentiment.

Just pointing it out for some users...

I remember saying something about it, but it must have been in another thread and I can't find it. I never took offence towards your signature, Phaelax, I just said TGC is probably not the place for that kind of twisted, dark humour.

No, of course not. You stated your opinion (that you almost entirely agree) and I stated mine (that I don't agree).

Ironically, this page took so long to load I nearly didn't bother waiting. And my internet's perfectly fine, too.

I have a theory, but this theory only works if Value1 is true,

Value1, data files and downloads are stored on the same server..

Value2, data files are stored elsewhere...

My theory is, when someone downloads a file from the My Products page or even a post attachment, it pulls some bandwidth from the rest of the server...

Just a theory...

There's no need to talk to another forum member like this. I think it's time someone locked this thread.

The first was a statement of fact. The second was a joke. *sigh* No, you're right, it was unkind... I apologise for my part in that, MrV.

It's easy to say something's a joke after you've offended someone.

Even if Mr.V understands your joke it's worth realising that he may not have done. The motive behind sarcasm is tricky to get from a line of text.

I know that some people think that offending someone is the fault of the person offended but personally I don't agree. Being offensive even in an offhand / joking way can leave someone feeling bad even if wasn't intended that way. If you have no problem with offending someone 'accidentally' or otherwise then you are an insensitive human being (and probably don't care that you are).

Personally if I offended someone even by accident I would try to apologise and explain my meaning because I don't like to make people feel bad, even if I don't know them.

That's not the reason I suggested locking the thread however, I think it's gone WAY off topic and doesn't seem to be going anywhere or getting any kind of 'official' notice.

We're simply utilising sarcastic humour as a tool for trying to cope with the slow page loading of TGC servers.
