Everything I find are either thousands of dollars for commercial application or require high quantities to be purchased. I don't need 50 panels, I want a few small ones to play with.

There are a few here(scroll down a bit): https://www.adafruit.com/search?q=Solar&b=1

as well as here: https://www.sparkfun.com/search/results?term=Solar+cell

Some of the slightly bigger ones are around $50.00, but that's better than thousands of dollars.

These two websites I have found are great for this sort of thing:

http://www.futurlec.com/ (use the search bar)
https://www.sparkfun.com/search/results?term=solar+panel

I have ordered parts from both websites before, and both companies seem legit. I might also have a look into mouser.com, but when I searched just now I couldn't find any solar panels.

EDIT Ope, looks like someone else beat me to Sparkfun.

Harbor Freight! You can get a pack of two decent size panels for about $150, with accessories. They make smaller ones too I believe. They are always running sales too. You still in Ohio? These stores are everywhere around here.

My father has some of those panels; (at least if they are the ones you speak of) he uses them, along with an inverter, to provide electricity on camping trips. Quite handy!

I think harbor freight has a sale coming up (like always). They might be bigger than the small project I was thinking of, but I'll take a look.
