I hope the noob programmer is not mad at me for hijacking his demo.
I wasn't trying to beat him to the punch on his effect.
It was just an effort to demonstrate one way of doing it.
I thought the line return might be helpful for his method.

These demo snippets are fun.
I guess I need to research some of the old ones to see what they looked like.
I was around back then and programming, but did not have many computer experiences outside of my bedroom.
Okay that didn't sound right, but you know what I mean, I was a bedroom programmer.

Well here we go guys, this zip file contains the finished, first AppGameKit DEMO SCENE, demo!

I have really enjoyed doing this and it has been a bit of a break reliving my youth from the Amiga days.

I intended it to have a lot more effects really but I need to get back at doing a game now and I can come back and do another demo later for a break again. It really is a good way to get away from a project when you have run out of inspiration and have a bit of fun before getting back into it!

I will upload the full video of the demo when I get chance but check out the code etc in the zip file to run it.

Have a go yourself, you will be surprised at how much of a stress reliever it is!

Just dont expect anything too exciting in the code as its scruffy and I havent had time to optimise it.

Hey michael l

Very cool demo, well done and great effort. Got everything retro in there, copper bars, sine scrolls and a bitmap scroller. Love the title logo wave effect, very cool!

What did you use here to record the screen and audio?

Wow you did some great demos here.

This bring back the memories , in the old days where we tried to go beyond the limits and push the hardware more and more, i remember the feeling when you finish a demo or just got something total new running.
Back then i made so many demos and games for so many different groups i cant remember them all, i wish i had my old c64,a500,pc and my backups , it would have been fun. I was surprised when i searched for my old "demo coder name" psoft , and found some of my old demos http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/author.php?id=39460 , i will have to dig up more of the old stuff.

This sounds like a lot of fun , perhaps i will try to find some of my old demos and convert them to AppGameKit , well first part would be to make a "Tracker" no demo without it

Hey there michael, good to see another demo coming onto this section. Managed to watch the video clip but it kept stopping and starting so not sure if there was a problem with youtube but managed to get the gist of it.
This looks like it will be super cool, love the loading part with the disk sound access and the background looks awesome, did you use a shader for that?
Looking forward to seeing more of this and how you did it.

Awesome!

Great work on your demo, very good effects, loving the style and especially the missing circle scroller, that is really cool !!

Will have to think of some more ideas and get another demo going I think. Got a few things jotted down in my pad

I just found this and had a solution for your Platoon thing. To mimic this specific effect, you don't need 768 tiles. Here's my example using 1 sprite and 23 clones. Image I used is attached.

While writing the above, I got an idea for a different approach. This only uses two sprites. Instead of using the animation command and repositioning it for each row, you could use just the scissor command. It depends on which has less overhead, a full screen sprite but with parts hidden or an animation object with frames. Actually, the first sounds like it might use less memory. As for impact on frame rates it depends on how scissor clips the sprite. If those areas are removed from the drawing routine completely then that would be the best way to go I think.
