I just got my new studio set up and wrote a couple of new tracks for my demo. Criticism would be welcome.
(Also wanted to test out the soundcloud tags)

First, lacking some depth... maybe not enough bass?
Second, a bit too noisy for my liking... again feels empty...
Third, LOVE IT! Tron cross Resident Evil cross Zelda 3 vibe... but there is an irritating bell pitch in the background, might just be SCs compression...
Fourth, Tinny, Intentional? Batman Dark knight Joker theme vibe... but rather broken I feel... too much conflict between the effects/instruments...
Fifth, Pretty neat, but cannot picture it being used in a game or trailer... something is missing from it...
Sixth, Soften those heavy keys up, reminds me of the Resident Evil 2 Save Room tunes...

All the above was first emotional response, so... spoon of salt must be consumed with the above I suppose...

Can I suggest some music for you to research and maybe imitate? I think you have the talent to hit the nail with them...

Hope this feedback was useful...

Keep 'em coming!

6 was easily my favorite, followed closely by 5 and then 3.

2 has a pretty good 16bit boss fight sound to it.

1 and 4 didn't really grab me. couldn't say why exactly other than they are kind of slow with nothing to really focus you on them.

nice work!

Thanks guys, it's nice to get some honest criticism.

Check out OCRemix on YouTube or their website for the torrent links, some great remixes to be heard! they have MP3 or lovely FLAC versions! some OGG too I think...

In order of preference:
3
2
5
4
1

Keep up the good work; I know music is not the only thing you are good at.

I find number 1 to be needing some more time to add more depth to make less 'digital'. 4 and 5 are good; just got some stereo artifacts (could be chorus or phaser effect). The rest I really like.

I like 3 because it keeps my attention, 2 because you can just tell it is video game music (in the good way).

Thanks for the feedback Chris.
#4 was just meant to feel unnerving, it was just me playing a violin badly, two guitar chords while running the pick up the strings, and a reverbed high pitch whisper played backwards. So the whole track is just kind of weird.

@MrV those are all great soundtracks, I have to say though I think FF8's soundtrack outperforms VII's. Definitely going to be going through those for ideas.

Well now I'm not sure if I should still use track 1 in my project, or write something different.

Look into Nightmare Creatures [PSOne] might fit the bill if I recall any music in that game anyway...

I could see listening to 3 and 5 in a game, the others not so much.
