Brick Destroyer is a simple arcade game where you have a Paddle, Ball and Bricks. The objective is to move your paddle around the screen by touching the left and right side of your phones screen. While you are moving your paddle you will be chasing a ball. Your goal is to hit the ball with the paddle and destroy all the bricks. You complete levels by destroying all the bricks and the more levels you complete the higher your score.

More control of the ball.


Features that may come in the near future:

Power Ups
Level Select Menu - so you may select your own levels to play. So you don't have to start over when you die.
Ability to change HighScore Name.

Things that WILL be worked on.

More levels will be added. (Right now there are only 9)
More accurate ball control.
Text Positioning. On few devices the text may not be positioned exactly right.

Things to Consider.
Narrowing the playing field. (Creating borders to shorten the width of the playing area)

Instructions.
Tap the Left and Right side of your screen to move the Paddle Left and Right.
There are no Buttons, the screen is divided in two. You may click anywhere on the left half, and anywhere on the right half.

Keep track of the ball or lose a life


Be careful with the Name you choose for HighScores as you will not be able to change it once its set (As of Now) Unless you go to AppData and change the text file.

Downloaded and rated this is a cool retro style game! Congrats on getting another game under your belt and released onto the app store

Works well and the %age system is spot on, looks far better than having boarders on the screen. On my 10 inch tablet it looks great! Good job Will.
The Amiga and Amos were great!

Can you compare the Menu Text Position on your phone too the screenshot I have provided in the top post. (Play Game, HighScores, Help Info)

On my phone which is really small the text does not 100% position like the screenshot above which was taken on my computer.
It is very close...Close enough for me not to care. Im just wondering how it looks on your Tablet.

I might just have to do as you said and replace the text with sprites.

On my tablet which is an Asus Memo Pad10 it is exactly the same as your screen shot above and looks great

My tablet died.
I could not read a lot of the text on my phone.
It's too small.

Fun game.
I was never that good at Breakout, so this is one high score board where I pose no threat.
Breakout fans should really love this though.
Good job.

I can see about resizing the text a little bigger.

Maybe you will get the hang of it.
I will be publishing another game tonight...It might help you with the controls. As they are very similar...I bet you can guess what it is ( I have been stung by the retro bug)

I plan on making lots of levels...My Level Editor is very simple to use and can roll out levels in 3-5 minutes.
I hope it catches on....For it to make it anywhere it needs a lot of improvement.

Nice game.
Could do with the updates you have identified, but already very playable and addictive.

Yes there are a ton of touchups needing to be made...None which are a big deal just minor.
I plan on having an update sometime this weekend...If things slow down around the house.

Well I just hit Publish on Google Play for "Ping Bong" so it should be up in a few hours. Now since that is out of the way I need to go back and update Brick Destroyer.

Changes to expect in the next day or so.

Paddle stopping when it reaches either the left or right screen bounds. You will notice in Pong I have already implemented this.

Sounds....Every game needs some sounds (In the rush of things I forgot to add sound to Ping Bong...So I have to go back and fix that)

Level Select Screen so you can start on the level you desire.

well as soon as I saw it here I downloaded it but when I played it ... man..
I was so hyped about it the graphics looks so cool but the gameplay is a mess.
there is no music, nor sounds.. the ball needs to be fixed ,
when the brick is exploding the particles are moving too fast and too far
and sometimes when the ball hits a brick it just moves on and dosent bounce back..

overall , it looks awesome but feels a bit poor.
please fix I want to play this !!! ( and if you could , please make an IPhone version so my family could also play this is our most favorite game of the oldies)

again , sorry for being harsh , GRAPHICS ARE AWESOME ! really liked it.

Edit: Just a reminder, the update was just published so it will not be live for 45 mins or so.

Edit: The update is live and crashing my phone. Will have to do some more testing why this could be happening.

Edit: After more testing I cannot repeat the process, Maybe it was a one time thing happening on my cheap phone.
If you encounter a crash upon hitting the play button at the end of the level, please let me know.

Edit: It also seems there is a lag issue with the new update and not all sounds being played on the phone.
Its a sad day in the neighborhood. I will have to get this worked out. It seems to only be happening on the levels with a huge amount of sprites.
But nothing has changed other than a few sounds and paddle movement. I don't see why this issue shows up now

Right now you can only enter your name at the very first time you open the app.
If you wish to change your name after that. You must go into the phones data storage. Where it writes the file with your name. AppData.

I just got a new phone today and installed my app. I was amazed that it is no longer lagging. I have only ever seen it played on 2 devices previously which both lagged.

I think that now since Android has updated it may have fixed the issue with what ever was going on. Which I never figured out. It is just now randomly not lagging.

I am reviving this thread with intent to some day update this game further and to ask anyone who has the app installed to tell me if the paddle slows down on the levels containing the most sprites.

Thanks for the kind words
I have complete intentions of redoing this game. The main reason is I knew of it to be lagging after I updated with new levels. The newer android version update seems to have fixed the problem but it shouldn't have taken a update to fix it.

With as simple as this game is to make. There are no reasons I shouldn't redo it with a professional look and fix the problems it previously had for people running older versions of android.
One day when I'm not busy working on my current project I will spend a day or 2 and do just that
