Hello,
I haven't found any thread on this forum or a solution yet and if there is one, it would be very nice if you could provide the link to it.
The problem I'm currently having is already stated in the headline: How can I add C++ files to Xcode and use them as an addition to template.cpp? Actually I know
how to add the file itself, this isn't the actual problem, but when I type in some code in this newly added file I get always confronted with errors and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I hope someone can help me out.

Make sure to set the file types in Xcode to Objective-C++ for new cpp files. That got rid of my errors
