I've written the foundation of an FPS engine in AppGameKit and will be uploading a short demo in the next few days that I've stylised after retro titles like Wolfenstein 3D.

The demo can be played with either a touchscreen or a controller, with the interface and gameplay adapting to suit. A zoom allows for finer aiming, whilst using a controller also allows you to sprint, jump, and crouch.

A very simple sound system alters the volume of sounds based upon their distance from the player, providing a 3D effect, and I'm aiming to improve performance in a future update by incorporating code from the very talented SoftMotion3D (https://forum.thegamecreators.com/thread/216928).

I'll be building upon this foundation with demos stylised after a variety of games, such as Turok and Half-Life, which will allow me to experiment with additional gameplay mechanics.

An apk is now available for Android devices, with a readme file also available to view online.

The game can be played with a touchscreen or a controller, and features one short level. Please note that I have not implemented a main menu, but a full list of controls are available in the readme.

All feedback gratefully received, but as I don't currently own any Android based consoles (Ouya, SHIELD, etc), I'd be especially interested in hearing how the game plays on such a device.

Looks like a decent project! Keep up the effort!

Runs smoothly on my Galaxy S6. Looks good, though the controls are a hurdle. I like to be able to shoot, move and aim at the same time :p

Awesome, thanks to you both.

I'm going to add an autofire option to a future build that I hope will help improve the controls. With this, the players weapon will automatically fire when the crosshair is over an enemy.

I'm also planning to create a HTML5 version that I'll host on my site.

I'm glad you like the visuals.
