Being a total cheapskate, I was wondering if it's okay to use an old IDE cable (does anyone else have tons of these things lying around?) on the GPIO port? I'm thinking I can just remove the individual connectors from one end to connect to whatever hardware I want to control. I'll have a go and let you know how I get on (with pics!).
