Hi,

TGC have two older games that we made in DBPro for an event way back in 2012. Is anyone up for converting them into AppGameKit V2 format? They would be good examples that we can give to new users.

Parallel Panic (centipede style game) - DBPro Source Files
Jumping Jack (platformer) - DBPro Source files

Let me know.

Hi,

Does anyone have any objections to these demo games being added to the Games Pack DLC?

It's another way to distribute the source code to users.

No objections here either, will be good to get out there to attract more users to AGK. The more that buy AppGameKit will only assist everyone in the long run!

None from me. It's a good idea! Probably worth mentioning that most of these were created in just a few hours, highlighting how easy it is to create in AGK.

Thanks guys!

BTW, I have updated my message about Jumping Jack and Parallel Panic with links to the DBPro project files.

I have no idea if these DBPro projects work!

Im good with this too.

I'm all for trying to help anyone out where game programming is concerned and to indeed give skills sets to become a better programmer.

and the examples in this thread so far are all exceedingly great templates to work with.

Ya just waiting for mine still I know... I just need to give myself some time to crack on with it

Yes, I'm happy for my template to be included as part of a DLC pack. I'd actually be quite chuffed.

Hi all, I'm pulling together the template games ready to be added to the Games Pack1 DLC.

Some are complete, others either need to be completed or have some tweaks made to them.

Here's my review;

Completed Templates
29 games - Endless tunnel
Lucas Tiridath - Bullet Hell
Janbo - Hill Racer
Blendman - My City
GarBenjamin - Attack of the crows

Templates that would benefit from some changes
Mobiius - Arkanoid (Can you rename this to say Brick Breaker?)
Cjb - Smash It (Add some instructions to start screen and a score?)
Qugurun - cube (add some instructions and a score?)
SpecTre - Platformer (cannot jump high enough?)
Scraggle - Floppy Bird (Just add some instructions to start screen)
Scraggle - Space Invaders (add some sound and rename to Aliens Invade)
MadBit - PingPong (Can you make this a bit easier to play on desktop?)
BatVink - Jetpack (need the project)
GarBenjamin - Raycasting Engine Demo (where can I download the source project?)

Misc
Easter Bunny - can you make the Angry birds template?
baxslash - any chance of a Pacman style game? Even with simple ghost AI?

What exactly do you mean, is it because of the sluggishness of the racket? Or the controller itself. Should I give the possibility to select the input devices?

@BatVink, thanks!

@MadBit - the control is super sensitive and the bat bounces off the walls which makes it hard to play. Suggest the bat is not physics based and also allow up and down arrow control of the bat.

@Rick it uses a double jump method which is quite popular in platformer games now. Think it is all explained in the code but I tested it and the block can reach all areas of the map.

Edit - Just checked and defo got double jump and works.

Ok, new version uploaded.

Now is checked on which platform is launched (mobile or desktop). On desktop, no virtual joystick is created and the control is played with the arrow keys for Player 1 and W / S for Player 2, if not played against cpu.
Furthermore, I have set the rebound of the bats to a quarter. Has been the easiest way. Without having to change a lot of code.

I hope it is now easy enough.

Executable for windows and linux are in the package.

Make a quick angry birds template. Let me know if it's what you're looking for. I think it demonstrates really well just how incredibly simple and easy a game like this is to make in AGK. I could easily compress it down to under 100 lines of code if I tried

Here's the code:

It loads the level from a file which must be named level.abl and places in the media folder
level.abl:

Rick,
If you would rather, I can write the block positions inline instead of loading it from a file. Whichever you prefer. Otherwise you'll just have to copy the code exactly as it's written in the code block into the file
Edit: Also, have I done this the wrong way? I've made it with the intention of it being easily modifiable, well commented and educational. Is it supposed to be that way, or is it supposed to be more of a demo showing off features?

Hi Rick, sorry I haven't had time to finish the pac-man demo. I will scrap what I have so far as it is full based on and using original graphics. I will try to whip up something that uses the basic mechanic but fairly unique to avoid any copyright issues. To be honest I completely forgot about this. Below is the source so far to prove I at least tried

I'll go back to basics on the next version and keep it simple...

Since I'm late to the party and the two I wanted to do are already taken (arkanoid and space invaders), I guess I"ll tackle fruit ninja. Time to see how fast memblocks really are.

Hi, ive been trying to use the code with my own medias for the platformer template, all work well except i cannot solve one thing, when the sprite is near to edge of higher platform, it cannot jump since the raycast return that the sprite is not on the ground. Ive look around and wishing the raycast command had some radius attach to it, but no luck. Any idea?. BTW its work as intended.

I thought I'd have a go at a few improvements to Smash It but the code I posted up previously (link) is crashing on my Windows machine with the latest build of AppGameKit (2017.05.15)

Can anyone confirm?

edit: It works when broadcast to Android, but windows gives me the "Smash It has stopped working... Checking for solutions..." when you click to start playing.

Yeah, I fixed it by updating the Windows Player. The one that came bundled with the latest release was causing the errors, but the release version that Paul posted here fixed it.

A simple Minecraft-Clone example, where you can walk arround (with no animation), put blocks and get blocks, maybe 10 different blocks, but only different from the texture or shader-color, no crafting, no optimization, maybe 100 x 100 x 100 cubes-array, with simple world generation.
