I'm a Linux user having AppGameKit on Steam. It used to work perfectly until now recently i tried to run it, and it simply will not launch.

To try to troubleshoot it, i've tried executing the Geany 64/32 executables that comes with AGK. When trying that, i get the following errors in terminal:

and

I do use "normal" Geany IDE (v1.23.1), installed via apt-get, quite often. And that runs perfectly.

Wondering if someone might have an idea how to fix this,

I've tried to troubleshoot my problem some more. By launching AppGameKit, trough steam, via terminal command "steam -applaunch 325180".
Below is, i believe, the lines from where steam tries to launch it, until failure.

We are currently using Ubuntu 16.04 for development, what version of Ubuntu are you using?

I'll do a release upgrade then and see if that fixes it.

After upgrading Lubuntu (to 16.04.3 LTS (Xenial Xerus) base) . AppGameKit now runs seemingly fine again.

However, since i hit a few snags during updating, (NOT AGK's FAULT THOUGH) having to reinstall several packages (libstdc++6, among others), i can't say for 100% sure if that was the problem

But good stuff having AppGameKit back and running. Consider this issue [SOLVED] on my part..Cheers

I can confirm this.

On Linux Mint 17 (which is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS), the IDE fails to start due to c++std library being too old (3.4.19 in system , 3.4.21 is required at least since AppGameKit 2017.09.04 if not earlier).

Upgrading to Mint 18 (based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) resolves this.

I'd suggest that the stated minimum system requirements are updated to reflect this (Ubuntu 16.04).

As an aside, even though 14.04 is supposed to be supported until 2019, Canonical are pretty bad at back porting minor (in this case micro) library versions, especially after a newer LTS version is available. That's a different rant however...

I'm a quite staunch believer in "If it's not broken, don't fix it!"; So i don't usually do distro version upgrades until i really, REALLY, have to. My problem was mainly that i couldn't for the life of me figure out why AppGameKit suddenly stopped running..

(though the "./geany64: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found (required by ./geany64)" should've probably tipped me off; Had i been more savvy..)

If they aren't doing so already; Maybe Gamecreators might consider putting future version requirements/suggestions in the changelog and/or in their Steam update news?

Anyway, if some moderator could add [solved] to this thread title, please do.
