The idea is to use a shader to mix several images for a sprite. Is it possible to have multiple images for a sprite shader? I know you can use SetObjectImage() to set different textures for objects and quads but I'm not sure if there is a sprite equivalent or not.

Yes its possible....... you use SetSpriteAdditionalImage()

You can then pass more than one image to the sprite shader easily. Its possible to do all sorts of cool effects
