I have created an easier way for gamers to play DarkBasic Games!! I have created the DarkGamePlayer. You can say that it's like a Video Game Software!! By the end of the day I will have a release demo with the game CaveRunner if I can configure the code a little bit!!! To show how it works!! DarkBasic Game Developers can also put their game on DarkGamePlayer, for more information go to this link.http://www.freewebs.com/desktopsoftware/darkgameplayer.htm

Here is the link to download
http://www.geocities.com/thedesktops/darkgameplayer.zip

Please follow the instructions, before you do anything else!!

We also need more games in our DarkGamePlayer database, please go to the above link for more info!!!

Future Versions of DarkGamePlayer
-CD-Player
-A server where gamers can just look for new game releases
-Other DarkBasic Developers can add other things to enhance DarkGamePlayer like a model viewer or something!!!
-Mini FTP Program

By the way, the download link is down I will find a better host than Geocities.

Once I get the proper webspace I will the demo available for download. Hopefully there is someone kind enough to give me a hosting site just for this program. The first demo will not feature connect to a server to download games, because I don't have the proper webspace for it.

I have a new fixed download link!
Here it is! This demo version will not support connect to a server to get new game releases because no has registered their game to be on the DGP, this demo version also feature the caverun demo just to test out DGP, just press the space to execute the file, just make sure you follow the included instructions in order to make DGP work! As I try to get programmers to publish their game to DGP I will improve DGP. You must have WinRar!

http://www.freewebs.com/desktopsoftware/darkgameplayer.rar The file size is at an estimate of 1.10mb

I tried it, very nice. I think you should make a GUI. And a cool logo perhaps. How about the ability to download games of the net? I noticed that feature isn't implemented yet.

Yippee! Finally I get some credit.
As I get more people to put their game on the DGP! I will then feature the connect to the server option, also I will have an option where a gamer can just do a button press to open a certain game.

@cyberflame- can you feature some of your games, so i can start the connect to a server feature and also promote it to different websites.

@chris knott- it's just a simple way to find and play darkbasic games on your computer. For more info, go to http://www.freewebs.com/desktopsoftware/darkgameplayer.htm

Desktops, so are you basically advertising games? Making an 'archive' of games made by DBers? This is what it seems. Your prog will just execute the game.exe?

How are you going to Mass Produce this? If you do, it would just be a taster of DB demos and freeware DB apps. If you DO end up mass producing this (and showing credit) I will surely send you a beta of Eternal Destiny to be featured

@rpgamer- i will produce this app on different sites and forums for example www.arcadepod.com,www.bonus.com. I might even just email a couple of editors from magazines like gamepro, gamespot just to see what these darkbasic devs can do. Still DGP is in the pre-beta stage, still got alot to improve!

@schooenhs- the game runs pretty fast on my comp! What kind of video card so you have

@cyberflame- your doing a good job. Just keep learning and you will become a pro coder, i'm still a newby, so far i've learn a lot of stuff since i came to forum on oct 9 2003 (almost 3 months)

I think that if thedesktops does it right it will be very usefull. Here on the darkbasic site alot of good games are floating around. Thats the point, all they do is float around. If he does what I think he's trying to do it will form an easy way for people to show their games, and it will keep all the games in one place where it will be easy to find them. Also it will help us remember which ones are darkbasic games too. If it wasn't for the models on starwraith I would have thought it was written in c++.

@ the desktops... are you going to have a way for your player to download games too? Without going into a web browser. 1 more thing, I dont use my c drive... think you can make it so we can change the drive?

@Mattman - I wasn't even going to post here until I read all of your immature comments--- if you don't like what this guy has to offer, then seriously go away and don't post your comments.

Obviously some people are expecting some future use out of this product, even if you don't have the ability to comprehend things outside of your own little narrow box.

Someone please ban Mattman for the day. You're becoming the idiot of the forum.

1.) Your posts help 0
2.) Your way off topic
3.) Your acting immature
4.)
Quote: "Can't wait until my decent DarkBASIC OS kills you off "

I'll see it when it comes. DarkBASIC OS, want me to start critizing you now about how you've finished 0 of the projects you've posted about?

Please stop now, and it may be helpful if a mod deletes a couple off topic posts.

Final word:

If thedesktops fail, let them fail. Making fun and bulling them around isn't going to help anyone.

@thedesktops

Just remember to keep things simple. Nice smooth interfaces are always nice. Get the setup down on paper, and your workspace will come smoother. I'll keep my eye on this project, for it could be interesting.

WTF - I'm a programmer at EA and you want to call me a n00b? I use DB for rapid application dev. *THEN* I work in C++ with DirectX if I want to do anything serious.

Maybe when you turn 13 you'll realize that I wasn't trying to "fight you off" but give you some advice. If you started your own topic "These guys create pointless programs" then listed a bunch of names, I'm sure you'd get flamed. But for you to make fun of someone in their own topic just proves that you're the net n00b.

By the way, I don't want my previous post to sound like I'm better than anyone else just because I work at a games company. I just get PO'ed when somebody calls someone else a n00b without even knowing who they are.

I have to say, Mattman, you are really starting to annoy me.
I really don't think you are as funny or as good a coder as you think you are. I have seen nothing to make me think you can code well at all, you seem to be about the same standard as thedesktops so don't knock them for learning.

I mean, come on, your "AI" script was a joke.

that's okay yellow. i have added a music track to dgp. it's has different kinds of midis from older nintendo games like mario 64, sunshine, etc. I have also made the background of the program to look like a desktop a little. It still has the easy to use interface, but with added features!

Keep going, don't release the next version until you are happy and have made quite a few improvements.

Mattman, I did see your AI script. The most advanced "AI" in it was point object. Good one. Have you ever released anything?

Well, Mattman, I'm sorry but until you release something I'm not going to take you seriously as a coder or let you take the piss out of people who have released something. Spend less time here and actually do something, you will annoy a lot less people.
