Hello,
I was wondering if there was a way to get hud weapon models and dynamic entities (objects and characters) to glow ?
Not in the sense of using an emissive map, but rather, having some sort of halo/aura with a moving texture surrounding them. (see attached).
I want to point out that I'd like to keep the diffuse, specular and normal map of the models.

Jump to 0:27 to see what I'm walking about.

I was thinking about doubling the models' polycount but it will end up being too taxing on the engine. I've also tried to achieve a suche effect by using a vertex fur shader but performance drops real quick.
Any Idea about how it could be done ?

Thank you !

It might work. It seems that it can't be bought anywhere, anymore. It was a GCS asset, right ?
There's a similar shader in Black Ice Mod called weapon_spec_normal_atlas.fx, but unfortunately it doesn't handle normalmaps and specular highlights.

Yeah to my knowledge the official TGC FPSC store no longer exists.

If you can get bond1's permission I can share it for you.

I've found three ways to contact him.

mark[a]hyrumark.com
mark.tgcstore[a]gmail.com
mjblosser[a]gmail.com

Since his website is long gone, I assume that the first adress is too.
I will send him a mail on his two remaining mailboxes.

Email sent, let's hope he will read it.

The weapons demonstration is some crazy good stuff! For some reason, I want to play Serious Sam again.

Thanks dude ! Flatlander should include that in a future release of BIM !

Bond1 wrote: "This shader is for skinned meshes. It uses diffuse, normal, and specular textures.
It includes a fixed point light, and mixes a sky and ground color with the global ambient
light, using the per-pixel normal to determine the blend. This has the effect of
simulating global illumination, even with 100% ambient lighting. Any area of the model pointing
toward the ground will be in shadow, and this includes detail from the normal map.

It will also produce an animated glow effect, and this is controlled by the alpha channel
of the specular map. "

Nice, this shader sounds amazing. I can't wait to fiddle with, with my little grubby fingers !
