Hi all! I'm Carrie. I just bought AppGameKit Studio and I am very new to building my own games. I did a C++ course almost 20 years ago and loved it, so hopefully it'll be easy for me to relearn the code.

My question to anyone who cares to answer is, can I really create any game that I can think of on this platform? Such as hidden object games or story led games? I want to know my limitations before I try to brainstorm my first project.

Thank you all for your input.

welcome. and, yes, i expect AppGameKit can be employed to build anything you can think of, within reason.

not sure what "story-led" is (interactive fiction?) but it shouldn't be too difficult. and, i can't say i've seen a hidden object game made with agk but i'm sure it can be done, as well.

once you decide, let us know if you need a nudge. you'll find the community here is eager to help where we've all been where you are, now.

Welcome Carrie,

You have come to the right place
You can pretty much create every game you can think of with AGK. It's very fast, very powerful, and very easy to learn.
There's also tons of useful commands for pretty much everything. You can use custom plugins, shaders, particles, 2D and 3D physics, and tons of other stuff.

With just a couple of lines, you'll already have something to show.

Thank you all! I really appreciate your support!

@Virtual Nomad, sorry, by "story-led" I did mean interactive fiction.

Are there any YouTube tutorials you recommend for super beginners like me?

hi and welcome
it's a coding based engine so the limit is really more your own ability, energy and time.
you mentioned you have c++ knowledge so are you looking to code in that (AKA tier 2) or will you be using AGK's BASIC language (AKA tier 1)? i think you'll find most of the help is aimed at the basic / tier 1 users as c++ users tend to be more advanced already but of course the forums are always a good place to ask for any help not found in the manual (press F1 at any time in the editor for help on the commands)
