i've been tinkering with THIS for the past few days:

as you can see, there are shadows in place (WIN version).

but, when exported to HTML, they're gone:

i think i've tried enough shadow combinations to say that shadows aren't going to work in HTML? and, i expect it's a 3d/GPU thing?

so, i'm wondering if there was a simple enough software shadow routine around? just a round/drop shadow would do**.

any guidance appreciated and happy holidays, all!

**add, i expect i can fake a drop shadow easy enough but i'm looking for one that would follow the terrain object, to be clear.

HTML and some weaker devices don't support Depth images.
It's possible to make it yourself, if you have the shader pack you can take a look into the shield shader or the water shader for example as they use selfmade depth images for html and devices without depth support and take my shadow shader I posted in the forums.

thanks, janbo. i do have the shader pack so will take a look at what you advised.

meanwhile, you can see the simple graphics and i'm wondering if i prefer a simple, cartoony shadow vs any kind of stencil shadow (i don't knnow the right terms).

all of this has brought back memories of when graphics cards became a thing and "software shadows" was an option in games.

well, even though i said i wanted shadows to (just) "follow the terrain", i do want shadows to fall on the truck, etc, and the boxes/gifts are physics objects that bounce/slide around.

i'll try what you first said. if that doesn't "work", i'll add planes or something
