Itch often have some great game jams and if you have any that you consider like an old retro dos game
this is a perfect oportunity to showcase it and enter into one of their game jams
https://itch.io/jam/dos-games-jam

It doesn't matter if you have previously made it or not for this competition and has a month left

Its also a great way to showcase your games
I have my personal itch page here and entering eligible competitions is a great way of advertising them all

I might throw "Alien King" in there, since the graphics are DOS-like retro.

I never did enlarge it though, so the low resolution might be a kick back, but considering the resolution of the monitors in those days, it would be fitting.

Don't really have the time for any JAMS at the moment, so this one that allows previously published games sounds great.

EDIT
Just entered Alien King. (created with classic, but that can be used for this Jam too!)
Not expecting to win anything, but did provide a link to the AppGameKit website.

@ Fubar!

Congrats on your 5 star rating already. ( my game only got 4 of 5 )

lol

No way I can compete with real 3-D.

After playing my game again after a long break (since I made it), I realize that my first stage takes way too long to complete.

He probably gave up on mine before ever finishing the first stage, or he died quickly in the second stage and didn't want to take the time to go through the first one again.

Thanks who knows its just ratings they don't judge it until a months time
so don't be discouraged really it just gets people to find your games
and a great way of getting free advertising

I actually entered that jam before I even saw this thread! Imagine my surprise when I saw some names from here in the submissions list
Hope it's okay if I include a little screenshot of Day 1 here

That is why I worded the description so that it would include the link to AppGameKit when viewing the link to the game entry.

Not that I think my game(s) in any way represent AppGameKit at its best, but just so people who have never heard of it can come check it out.

Helping to spread the word about this awesome product is an easy way of showing Paul and TGC my appreciation of, and commitment to, AGK.

Looks like a Wizard conjuring something up in a dark forest.

COOL!

I have always like the billboard style foliage for 3D.

Yours looks like it might even be procedurally generated rather then using external files?

At conjured Entertainment

a bit off topic but I created the following 3d plants procedurally

Theres plants and trees here
https://forum.thegamecreators.com/thread/222027
also further down the post you will see a 3d game called "A small random 3D world of fractals and Kaleidoscopes"
which uses both the trees and plants that I entered in one of the TGC code challenges

That's definitely the look I was going for! Glad you like it

I've been wanting to make a bunch of billboard foliage for a game now for a while and this jam just gave me the perfect excuse

Procedural generation is definitely something I want to get into, but I'm still a bit of a noob right now so those are just handmade in Milkshape

Dude, that's beautiful.

Most impressive.

Well, they look great, especially if you are just starting out.

A lot of us here started out in 3D with MilkShape3D.

I started with that and moved over to fragMOTION.

I still have them both on the taskbar, but I use fragMOTION mostly now that I have gotten used to the interface.

Either one is fine though, and a great way to get all the basics down.

Many of the other tools, like Blender, just had too many features that I didn't need and it was difficult for me as a beginner to learn with those.

Thanks

I have noticed since I entered a couple of games in that jam the downloads have increased significantly

Still time for others to enter and a great way of showcasing them and itch accounts are free
