Recently, I've had a hankering to go back and play some classic FPS Creator titles from back when I was an active member of this community. Nowadays I work in Game Guru and, for all the improvements Game Guru has made over its predecessor, there was always something indescribably alluring about these old FPSC games, so I've decided to start an infrequent and informal YouTube series where I play some of them. I'm not usually a fan of Let's Plays with commentary, but since I've now got nigh on fifteen years under my belt working in TGC products, I feel I can actually contribute to the debate and can review these games with some degree of authority, as opposed to the vast majority of YouTube which mostly just tends to immediately pan them for being FPSC games.

Welcome to FPS Creator Classics, where we take a look at interesting and original games created in FPS Creator. I'll be posting new episodes as and when. I'm also always on the look out for more titles to play so feel free to drop some suggestions. Hope you enjoy!

Nice job, i'll definitely watch those videos! But i have a question - will you only play old FPSC games (judging by the series' title) or will you also play some newer ones?

To begin with, I'm trying to focus mostly on stuff released 2005 - 2010 as those were the years I have most anecdotal experience of using the engine. But in the future, I'd certainly consider playing some more up to date ones. It was Wolf's newest FPSC title Amytric Pulse that got me interested in rediscovering FPSC games in the first place last year.

I said that on discord already but I say it again here: great idea for series
PS: Hey is there a place where I can still download Fpsc games from years 2006-2009? Oldest topics here on showcase are from 2009, and most of links are dead anyway I know some games can be found on starmind's site, but not many of them.

Can you cover this game? It's called "ConkerBunker" and only a demo (with 3 levels i think) came out in August 2005, i think that was when FPSC was in it's "Early Adopter" stage, also surprisingly the download link still works!

The FPSC Work in progress section had some old games if you go to the last pages, that's also how i found the game i suggested above.

Thank you @ScooT9, I played that ConkerBunker game and it's surprisingly good! Is it possible to still get that FpsC Early Adopter version? I tried to find it, but links are dead for long time

Nope, atleast not the "full" version of the early adopter. I started a thread 3 years ago asking who still has that version and if they can give the link, but nobody posted any links, however someone sent me a PM with the link to a trial version of the early adopter, so if you want to check that out, here's the link: http://ftp.icm.edu.pl/packages/winsite/winxp/games/FPSCreatorEA_TrialVersion.zip , also if it crashes saying "The trial has expired", try setting your system date to january 1st, 2005 and launch fpsc with windows xp compatibility mode.

Really cool series, I love seeing all of these games again.
Care to do a video on that somewhat RPGish game about the old west? I forgot its name but it was really impressive back then.
If something compiles on the first try. Something is terribly wrong.

Yeah I vaguely remember that one but I never played it. Like yourself, I can't remember what it was called...Frontier-something?

New episode up btw! This time it's the time of Bugsy and Wolf's superb cyberpunk actioner Kshatriya: Prologue.

thanks for putting these vids together. there were/are some VERY talented folks using FPSC and, as an Un-Annointed, i'm appreciating every vid that i've viewed thus far immensely.

meanwhile, for a guy like me who has no experience with FPSC, i would appreciate a little more pause on details that those with experience may look past. with that, your insight is invaluable.

finally, perhaps add a link to the playlist in the first post?

thanks again. you and the FPSC community here are top notch.

Thanks Virtual Nomad, it always surprises me how creative and diverse the projects made in FPSC were. For an engine with so many limitations, it didn't take long for the community to find ways to circumvent them.

I'm glad you enjoy the series, and I will add a link to the playlist itself now...

FPS Creator Classics is taking a short break over the festive season but will return in 2021 with more episodes. Until then, check out episode 20, where I play Bugsy's OPS: Escape, or watch any of the previous episodes by checking out the first post in this thread, or watching the playlist below:

FPS Creator Classics is back (well, a few new episodes are coming). In the latest episode, I decided to play the follow-up to Bugsy's OPS: Escape by playing OPS: Hong Kong. Check it out here or watch the playlist linked above.
