@blink, how do we access in-game settings (i just saw the screenshot) ?

it took a minute to learn to [esc] from the splash screen. can you post some instructions on your itch page, otherwise? i feel i'm missing something or 2.

i thought the selection should show other tracks greyed out that tricked me first time but i loved it and a fantastic effort for a solo creation in a jam

S key or click on the Dot at bottom right or X on the joystick (From Splash Screen)

You need to hit the link in its thread though, if you want to play real people too, and not all NPCs.

Itch.io doesn't host the PHP script, so it only can access the local files on its server, but if you go to my host then it will be running the PHP for multiplayer.

The link is in its thread. (I make one of those so I can access/review it better in a search later of my threads)

i'm sure an undocumented spell was cast!

and, where do i find "most rated" info?

meanwhile, i'm taking a slight beating for using "rotated pixels". i never knew the term... just play it, FOR FUN!

@blinkok, I saw and was like, WHOA! Judging from the comments, there are a lot of fans of those old school CRPG/rogue-likes.

@VN "rotated pixels" - it's because your app isn't running at 64x64; it is using blown up sprites and moving them in a 640x640 worldspace. The up side of your approach is that everything moves sooo much smoother. The down side is that it isn't a 64x64 game.

Whammy's now at # 2 (i've finally used the pull-down and found it and, it's probably a lot to do with why i was pulled to the first page as a cohort ).

Loktofeit wrote: "it isn't a 64x64 game"

i get it now. but, it FELT like 64x64 (and i only use a circle, for the most part. IE, 3,216.99 px, give or take, so )

meanwhile,
VN wrote: "i hope to see AppGameKit represented during LOWREZJAM 2020"

i'm proud to stand alongside you all in this.

we covered a lot of ground (genres, styles, etc) carved our mark on the event, made "a few" strangers across this masked planet smile, and had fun doing it, which is all i'd hoped for

finally, while they were created for something a little different, i suppose, i believe they are most-appropriate here where we participated in a competition as a community, no matter how we end up ranking as individuals:

I had been looking at the No Video Jam, because it seems so different than the usual Jams in not requiring artistic skills. (where the graphics can slow many people down in jams)

I had not even given this 'genre' of games any thought prior to seeing that Jam, and it opened my eyes to a lot of things I had not considered in development before.

This kind of App would have much more purpose and merit than just a plain game, and it could showcase AppGameKit to a new group of dedicated developers.

No audio was my little game's big flaw in this one, and doing the No Video Jam would be a complete 180 degree turn, but I may not have the time right now to do another Jam.

However, I will be giving more thought to development of apps for the blind, and making all the voice clips so it is not dependent on any screen reader. (why it would be so time consuming)

If only our text to speech could work for Windows and HTML5 builds (not a request though, because Windows 10 has enough issues) , then it would be a snap.

With that said, I would probably have to get back into Android development for a task like that Jam, but I may have wait for their next one.

PS
Thanks for the new badge!!!

Not my choice of colors, but it does stand out.

Same here. It was fun to rally together as AGKers (the hashtag was a cool idea!) for this. It was the folks here that got me into the idea of participating.

Yeah, I had Arcade stuck in the brain.

Metal Slug

Metal Slug 2

Had some decent fight games then too ... Mortal Kombat (one of those would be fun) "Finish Him!"

The thing that looks tasty is the month long thing. (the relaxed pace is refreshing for a jam)

Was thinking Halloween theme would be nice for this with the timing of the event, but who knows.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of the fighter style.

Like the last jam, I want to be making something I could actually use on my current project if possible.

Was planning on using text based fight recaps for GQ to start, but also had thought about expanding that to a visual style replay of the action later.

A nice 2d fight for each one on one combat would be nice, of course the difference being PC vs NPC for the jam, and VPC vs VPC for GQ.

My 'VCP' is a virtual player character, which is like a mix of the traditional PC and NPC.

In other words, the player decides and constructs the AI behaviors for the VPC(s) that will be playing for them 24/7 when they cannot play live.

Goes back to the combat card concept and the idea of matching people for multiplayer without the need for real time or network player count limitations.

well, there are programs to convert images to pixel art of that style.

so I could cheat on making the graphics

I got game dev and just on-the-computer burnout so never finished the jam project.
Actually have done no dev outside my job for a couple of months now.

Anyway, I am looking forward to checking out everyone's submissions to that lowrez jam over the next month.
