Well I'm certainly looking forward to playing it, it looks very cool and is the type of game that tends to suit DarkBasic to a tee.

I was lucky enough to get a loan of some webspace from Las6, perhaps a user with some free space could host it for you, I mean it's still a good week+ before Rich publishes the links.

Great fun

This should do well:

If I were to score it, I'd say:

Graphics: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Sound: 6/10 (Love the music, but few sound effects)
Polish Rating: 9/10 (How "pro" does the game feel - ie. how stable is it, does it run fast, are the menus good)

Nice! Innovative use of a matrix.

Good things:
> nice and smooth
> lovely menu system
> love the little dance he does at end of a race
> no apparent bugs or crashes, which is always good in my books

Bad things:
> No sound effects, only music
> Nothing to tell you what place you are in or where other racers are
> options menu does not tell you what is current option until you go into that option
> No collision with other racers

well there are sound effects, but they are few and far between!

overall I think the game is very nice.

my only problem, is that when I play, one computer character takes off ahead of me, and from what I can tell I never pass him, yet I still get first place! don't mind me, I like getting first place and all, but like spooky said, something to let you know your current place, and perhaps the distance between you and the other racers would be nice.

for example when you go through a checkpoint, it gives you the time in seconds that you are behind the next player...

just a thought. very professional game, no bugs!!

Thanks for the comments
There are some sound effects, but I agree, there could have been some more Collision with the opponents was something I was looking into for a long time, but never got to successfully work...so I left it out
Only bug I actually know about is the results at the end of the race occasionally screw up :-s
Thanks for trying out my game,

Robin

Graphics: 7/10
Gameplay: 9/10 (I felt like I was hoverboarding! Also gotta love the tricks)
Sound: 7/10 (Just add some more sound effects.)
Polish Rating: 8/10 (Pretty Professional. Could have some minor tweaks, but I'd love to see this further developed.)

Robin, you've proved yourself one of the better coders on these forums. Congrats and best of luck in the compo.

Robin, this was a good entry in the competition.

What amazed me most about this game was the race track. I thought it was designed very much like a roller coaster. It was very nice, with the hills, turns and tunnels. And a very good use of commercials too with the billboards!

You know, it wouldn't be a bad idea if TGC used your game as a tutorial instead of the "sample games" that come with Dark Basic. It has several things that any good game should have: menus, gravity, a nicely designed world, and movement. I even think your game far outshines the sample games that come with DB.

Oh yeah, and the animations were a hoot!

Have you created any other games?
