I know we all have them, I know sometimes they can be confusing too. Lets just talk about some of the dreams we've had. Lets not let this turn into a thread about philosophy though, too confusing

Lets start:

My Scariest Dream:
Had this when I was 7. I must have had a fever or something. I was walking along the side of the highway with my brother, then all of a sudden he pushed me on the side of the road while a truck was coming. Truck ran over my arm, and I woke up. But, I must not have woken up completely, because I still saw the truck crushing my arm. I tried to scream, but couldnt (I'm guessing I was, since my parents came rushing into my room). That would have to be the freakiest dream ever.

and now:

The Dream that Sparked the Idea About This Thread:

I had it last night. We were all 18. All of us. We just got into this new programming college that was supposed to be for the elite coders only. Every student got their own house (yes, house, not lousy appartment) just for attending the school. We all had a good time, had quite a blast at the bar after classes (I didnt drink, just got a cup of coffee and acted drunk) and it was great. But heres where it confuses me. When I went back to my assigned home, my entire family was there. There was also a few of my friends, at age 18 too, and then, I look around, and I see...anime character When did they get in my dream? Then I turn, and I see Kenshin Hemora (sp?) from Rurouni Kenshin, and he must have been my dream selfs best friend or something because we just started yapping and never shutting up...

Well then...what about your dreams?

Cheers,
Preston

When I remember what I dream of, its usually warped.

One recent one I had, was I was surrounded by hundreds of guys for some reason, and I took them all on and won (how or why, I dont know). What made it better, is that I could shoot lasers from my hands, manipulate time to a degree, and move ala matrix style.

Another one I've had, but this was about 8 years ago when I was about 10. I dreamt that I was shopping with my mum, when she got me to go get something from a shelf. I went to get it, and for some reason, ended up in a lift, going back to ground level (this shop was a few levels below the ground). In the meantime, aliens took over the shop and turned people into aliens, and I had to kill them all. I killed them, because I was then armed with a laserquest gun, and they all wore dungaree's (spelling?) with a big hole in the stomach, where they had a red dot which was their weak point.

I think trowbee's got me beat:

I dremt (sp?) that a portal open up and a giant black panthar came out and killed evryone around me. I started running from it and I managed to hide in an ally, al the sudden I saw the swat team run buy so I poked my head out to see what would happen. They shot the panther but the bullets just bounced off and he kiled all of them, then spoted me again. I kept running and eventaly I got the idea to go to my house and get my dads shotgun. I shot and killed him (odd). Then i picked him up and put him back in the portal that convinetly formed near me.

then i woke up

Okay one of the possibly strangest things that happened to me 5 years ago, we were driving back from a holiday (it was a 9 hour drive) and midway through I started to doze off and while still half asleep, I started 'dreaming' I was watching a TV show, I can't remember what I was watching anymore but I remember it was quite interesting. Then I started to fall into a deep sleep and somehow I realised I was falling asleep or thought I was so I suddenly thought "hey, I don't want to miss this show" and quickly woke myself up to find out I dreamt the TV show and was still in my car.

When I was about 6 or 7. I dreamt me and my parents went to a hotel. There wasn't much people in the hotel. We took the elevator to get to our room. I think it was on the 13th or 14th floor. There was an unusually dark hallway so u can see only at little distances. We went to our room and went to bed.

In the middle of the night, I woke up. I went to get a drink of water, then I noticed that my parents aren't in their beds. As I was young at the timeI was paranoid. I looked outside to see if they were there. Yet I saw nothing but blackness through the window. I was peeing my pants(not literally).

I wanted to go out the room. It was the same blackness as the one through the window. I stepped outside the room, other than the darkness, everything was normal. A few seconds later, I fell. It wasn't a gradual fall, I went down at full speed immediately. I started to see a blurry reddish orange color far below. I felt unusually but comfortably warm.

Then I woke up.

Similar things have happened to me-- something good happens in a dream, but I start to fall asleep, wake myself up in the dream, and wake out of it instead.

I once dreamed that a few buddies and I shared an awful secret, yet I had forgotten what it was. Then, in my dream, my parents decided to sell the house and move-- then it hit me that there was something hidden in our attic that my parents would surely see if we moved.

Then, the same dream, I went back in time to a night when a few male buddies of mine and a female friend were at my place practicing for a school drama. The girl was being annoying, and we were all drinking. The rest of the details weren't revealed in my dream, but we had ended up killing her and putting her body in a sleeping bag in my attic. Now, years later, when my parents were about to sell the house, I was getting frantic about them discovering the body. My whole body was wreaked with guilt because I couldn't believe we had murdered this girl all those years ago, and I'm not the murdering type, and I somehow forgot about it.

I was afraid to go up into my attic to investigate the body to remove it, but I basically had to before my parents cleaned it out. Really freaky stuff.

Yeah that's a sample of the twisted dreams I sometimes have.

One dream I had was really cool. It was about a year ago. I dreamed that I was able to fly and it was awesome becuase it didn't feel like a dream. I thought I was really flying. Then when I was flying I lost my power to fly and fell. Then I fell out of my bed and woke up.

3 I remember:-

1. My dad used to be a driving instructor. My dream involved me driving with him giving directions. But when we come to a corner I can't turn. He yells a bit, and we go straight into a field. He yells to slow down and I can't. Then we see a ditch coming up. Unable to turn or stop we are just about to crash into the ditch when a lucky bump takes us flying (Knight Rider style) over the ditch. And we carry on (with me trying to stop, and my dad shouting). Repeat until waking... Hmmm. Not too bad. Control issues perhaps? Not ready yet to talk about my mother...

2. Hmmm. So I once heard that looking directly at a nuclear explosion would make me go blind. Ahem. Anyhow, in my dream I look out of the window of my amazingly empty house (much like all around the area, I seem to know) and a nuclear explosion goes off in the distance. I avert my head quickly, sqeezing my eyes shut. I think I must be blind as I saw a little of the explosion. I open my eyes, and I am ok!!! Then another explosion goes off in my field of vision. I avert my eyes again. Repeat until madness once again, but add a peppering of running around a bit and a lack of ability of just closing my eyes at any other time, or even a concern of nuclear destruction. Ok, give me one of those jackets..

3. Heh. Right. So we are looking at a big mansion. Something like (no exactly like) a scene out a Sherlock Holmes movie. ie. Big house, lots of marsh type land... and lots and lots of mist (myst if you are a Mac lover ) Oh, and it's night. Anyhow it really does feel like a movie, with even a small soundtrack (honest!). But the mist starts to move about a bit (Dracula stylie), and it turns into the shape of a blue whale!!!!!!! The whale then goes into the mansion (I know). Cut to me hiding in the toilet (ie. a room with only a toilet in. Not the actual toilet). I know I'm in the mansion. And weirdly (for me) I am me. I'm really scared, and know the misty whale is out to kill me. I can hear my family getting attacked by the whale, then all is silent. I'm really scared that the whale will get me (no remorse over dead family notice) through the gap under the door. So I contemplate stuffing a load of toilet paper there..... then I wake up... yep, get me the rubber room...

Cheers

Once me and my bro first moved our room down to the basement (this was about 5th grade), I had a dream that me and him were in my room with this one other person...but here's what's scary about it. Me and my bro are twins, and this person looked like a mix of me and him - like he was our triplet! And he was talking to Scot (the dream was taking place at night) and I sat up. He turned around and looked at me and his eyes were friggin' rolled back in his head there was blood running out of them! It was so wierd. The worst part was, since the dream took place in my room, I woke up in the same position and it was like it was real!!! I knew it was a dream but it scared the hell outta me.

Heh. I used to read Mr Men books. And when I had a nightmare, I used to imagine Mr Bump bumping into things. Even now I sometimes resort to the scene and it takes away any night chills (last resort). And I'm thirty!!!!

Oh, and the movie that brought on the biggest frightners has to be the Medusa Touch. As a kid it scared the crap out of me! And Survivors by James Herbert is really the only book that did the same thing. Brrr. Back to the Bumpy boy....

Funny what you admit due to lack of sleep...

A long time ago (When I was 5 or 6) I had a weird dream where I was at the top of a canyon and my sock mysteriously fell down the canyon. Then I jumped down, and strangely landed safely. I got the sock and then mysteriously jumped back up to the top. Then my sock fell down again. XD Today I don't have many dreams, but when I was young my dreams were very, very weird. And no, I am not afraid of heights!

Man, some of these dreams are so interesting, I remembered one I had about two months ago:

It was normal. At first. I was in my house, got out of bed, went to go to the bathroom. But, I didnt need to go. I open the door, and I've got an entire freakin swimming pool, 5 times the size of a standard one you'd find in a High School. It was awesome, and the door led to an edge that was about 50 ft above the pool, so, I took a dive. Man, what a rush. But then, I dont know where it came from, but a killer whale rushed after me . I swam faster then it ever could, and then I jumped out of the water like it was nothing. I jumped a good 90 ft into the air, and the whale followed, but only jumped about 40 ft. I landed on the edge again, and I went back through the door through my house. Then I jumped up, and I didnt land on the ground. I started floating. It felt like I was too! I was floating around my kitchen, and my mom was in the corner in awe. Then, I started bugging out. I was thinking, how will I ever get down. Then, I just crashed to the floor with a loud thump. Then, I tried floating again, and I flew around the entire house. It was awesome. I felt as light as a feather. Then my dream self literally thought the following:

"I know this is a dream, and that this feels too real. Better wake up now or I'll piss my pants!"

and then, I woke up. Best dream ever!

Cheers,
Preston

Did you happen to see some lost luggage from years before, just a split second from hitting the floor?

Hmmm. And yeah, I rarely dream these days. Freaky ones from when I was a kid.

Over the past year, the majority of my dreams were all about flunking in school because of failed tests, projects, etc. Ironic coz I'm doing pretty well in school, lowest grade last quarter was an 87 in CLE and an 89 in Filipino. The rest are in the 90s.

Those dreams about school are starting to get to me coz it feels too real...

Oh yeah, on the note of anime characters, I once had one of Hotaru Tomoe as my girlfriend(kawaii!!!). Wierd thing was I woke up and I was crying, for no reason at all.

I've been having really realistic dreams lately - the sort where, when you're in them, you think "Is this a dream? No, if it was a dream, something weird would happen."

Last night i dreamt that i woke up, went out to the kitchen and opened the fridge, and there were 4 tubs of yoghurt in there. This morning when i woke up, i went out to the kitchen and opened the fridge, and there was only 1 tub of yoghurt. I just stood there, really confused, because i was sure there were 3 more tubs last time i looked.

Nearly every dream i have starts off in my room. One time i dreamt that i went over to the door and was about to open it when i thought, "No, this is just going to be one of those boring dreams where i walk around my house doing nothing. Not this time." So i pulled out a battleaxe and started smashing everything. Man, that was a cool dream.

Lol, doh, i thought I was normal!

After reading all your dreams, I have reached a definite conclusion - Im not normal

I seem to be able to remember everyy dream I have, and the frequently become bases for games, films, and stories

Heres a few i can remember:

No. 1 - The Minataur(sp?)

The dream started with myself and a friend in a lift. Obviously, whichever disturbed part of my brain decided to use this dream for viewing, filled me in on my background. I was a security marinne on a government spaceship and we had just been called down to the science laboratory bay on sector 17 of the spaceship. The most interesting thing was,it was in forst person perspective, and looked like Halo, ie, it looked the same, felt the same, and the guns were exactly the same!
Anyway, we were in an elevator talking about how we'd move into the lab and see what was happening. As the lift came to a halt, i felt it. You know when you can FEEL that someone is going to get you? You know that, whatever you do, he is always going to go for you, and will never stop chasing.
I got that feeling.
Nervously, I asked my comrade to check it out first. The lab was on the side of the spaceship, like a platform with a lot of computers on it. I stood behind the door and aske4d my mate to move in. He opened the door and cautiously moved into the room. I waited ...

to cut a long story short, he got devoured by this monster that was a minataur that changed shape into a purple knight. When i went in, i shot at the night, then jumped off the edge of the platform, intent on killing myself. The crap scariest thing then ahppened.

He jumped after me.

the dream carried on and features children with no eyes that stuffed brocilli into peoples mouths till they died, DBC terrains(ala Candyland), and a host of bee's inhabitbibg a huge pryamid...

yes....i do frequent a doctor

doh..i have heaps more..... but they will take ages to tell, cause there all really detailed....

1 more

No.2 - Sandy

okay, none of you know her, but she is an angel. I dreamt about her last night, and it was the best dream i have had to date.
6 of us were lying on a matress facing each other( how does that work.....) andyway, i was staring into her blue eyes, and she into mine. No-one talked much, but just being able to stare at her, unhindered was amazing. She smiled briefly at me, and her sister asked "why did u smile?"
Sandy blushed and looked away for a moment. I knew why she smiled though, and i proceded to say, "a smile is a gift ofd love from one friend to another". At the time, it made perfect sense and she smiled back at me with a warm smile, blushing while she did. i moved over next to her and hugged her tight, closing my eyes. I opened them again, only to find myslef hugging my pillow. I was soooooo sad when it finished i almost cried, but instead i wrote a short story about it.

Anyway,
yes, I am wierd:0

Believe me, those are my normal dreams wait till you hear the wierd ones!!

btw, they happened in the last month

Grief. *Everyone* else seems to have normal dreams compared to me... (the whale dream!!!!).

Time for therapy methinks....

Oh, and the most realistic dream was my mum buying me Spy Hunter on the Spectrum. Then I woke up and spent a couple of minutes hunting for it in a sort of half awake not quite sure if I had it kind of way. I could even read the inlay in the dream. It was awesome. Also made me think my mum was a cheap bitch. Then again, after a bit of wheeler-dealer type efforts with tapes I got it a few months later along with about 10 other games and the Star Trekking song on someone's old C90.

In my dreams, I can fall without taking any damage. This is one of the laws of my dream-universe that I have just got used to.

Anyway. One dream I remember. I forget the start, but I remember it from a field, with a bus. Then (with no action) I was in a building on the 5th floor but I was with a group of people and the police knew one of us was an enemy, so they had locked the building. For some reason I proceeded to run from floor to floor, putting small bombs in strategic places (as a distraction I think). Eventually, I reached the bottom floor (by lift) and was about to run out the door, when I was caught. I pretended to go quietly, then ran back into the lift and got off on the third floor. I ran and jumped through a (closed) window, and landed on the other side of the road below (undamaged from the glass, and fall). Then I just got up and kept running. It went weird(-er) after that, with me swinging from hedge to hedge instead of walking on a path. The police were still following me, and I think a cow rolled along the ground.

Then I woke up.

Hmmm ... one of the first dreams that I remember having must've been when I was about 4 or 5.
I was hiding in a cupboard in the kitchen from a pencil (yes a pencil) which was hopping along on it's point towards me. Then I remember legging it up the stairs with the pencil just coming around the corner to confront the stairs as well. I hid in my room somewhere (can't remember where). I could hear the tapping of the pencil as it hopped up the stairs ... I think It got as far as peeking 'round the doorframe before I crapped myself and woke up.

Oh yeah ... the pencil was one of those yellow ones with the pink rubbers on the end.

Funny how you remember the scariest dreams huh . I must've hated school or something.

Holy crap! I had the same dream almost 10 years ago!! It started out as I could see our earth from back in time slowly moving toward our earth. You could see the mountaintops start brushing each other, and things were flying toward the other earth's gravity pull, but it would be equalled out approximately midway between the two earth's. So you'd have all these things floating around in the middle between the two earths. It was a crazy, freaky dream!

I dont usually have dreams, but when I do have one its usually feels meaningless and I dont remember it well. But from ones i remember they all involve me being stuck in a pipe of somekind and it having a blocked end. Nothing really interesting, but i am clostraphobic which gives the dreams some sort of meaning

Not to self: Have an interesting dream, one which you can control yourself. Still working on that

I saw something on TV a while back that reckoned we dreamed nearly all the time (most of us). We just only (a bit) remember the last bit. Bit like TV programmes.

As it happens my most annoying dream involved the best story I could ever conceive. It was brilliant, and I worked it in my dream to be even better. God, it was blank cheque time with that one. I think I also came up with the answer to the universe too. Anyhows, when I woke up I actually remembered most of the story too. And it was tops. And then I had a shower, and now remember 0% of the story. Heh, I believe the remembering the dream was also the dream. Cunning self... was well well annoying...

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Ah yes the weirdest dream i'v ever had -

Started out like a preview for a movie right some horror movie about some weird thing.

ok so anyhow the preview had a guy and a girl doin it and they are all into it when all of a sudden the girl somehow while still doin the guy chops his wang off. OK so this guys thing is still in her when she does this then she gets off and the guy is like sort of screaming but not much. Then the girl pulls it out of her and starts licking it as she walks out of the room...then i woke up...

THATS THE MOST MESSED UP DREAM EVER!

Okay, i had a really really really long, weird dream last night. Maybe this thread is having some strange effect on me. Maybe it's to make up for all the non-weird dreams i've been having.

Okay, i cant remember the start too well, but there's two tribes, green and grey(they're called grey but they're actually brown) who are fighting. Suddenly the whole world is fighting with these tribes. The Americas and Australia on the green side, the rest of the world on the grey.(even europe, for some reason. maybe cause of that thread about british people hating america.)

Anyway, everyone fears the looming nuclear war. America has developed a nuclear sheild to stop enemy attacks, but its only big enough to cover texas. So they send out people to destroy enemy nuclear weapons.

Then it becomes sort of like a game - its 3rd person view, and im controlling a chick in a trenchcoat. (too much Enter the Matrix?) The scenery looks like a matrix with a repetitive grass texture.
The chick starts running and then jumps and rotors come out of her hands and she glides along. (too much ratchet and clank- and i only played the demo) Anyway, she has to destroy an enemy military base, so she gets in a helicopter and flies there.

Then it switches to 1st person and im in the cockpit. I fire a few missles, then the copter gets hit so i jump out. I land in this dark alley and spiderman runs up and shoots me with his sticky webbing. I punch him and run away, persued by various other superheroes I dont know anything about, like Captain America and The Flash.

Back to 3rd person, and the chick runs out of the alley and there's a riot going on. Lot of people with pitchforks and burning shopping trolleys, clustered around a crashed helicopter. She can hardly move because of the webbing, so she needs some new clothes. The rioters run over and there's a huge fight scene, with lots of matrix-style time-slowing and camera panning. While she's fighting, the chick somehow manages to remove all her clothes and replace them with clothes the rioters are wearing. She emerges from the fight wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

Back to 1st person again. A little window pops up saying "New mission: find the zombie finger." So i run down another street and go through this huge door, and im standing in front of a cargo elevator with lots of crates and barrels everywhere. A big tough guy walks out from behind a crate and i notice one of his fingers is green. I kick a pile of barrels next to him and time slows as they fall on him, and just as they hit, i kick him in the head.

End of dream.

Heres one my dad told me:

My grandad was asleep one night (this was years ago when my dad was young, under 19), but not totally, just semi-conscious, coz he was having a sort of awake dream, where he was dreaming but he was aware of everything around him (like my gran in bed beside him). So he saw himself in a hospital on a bed, but this was like really happening. He was in the year 1912 (or thereabouts, 1914 maybe) and he was able to give the name of the doctor who examined him, and the name of the hospital in London. Then they laid his arms out (one over my gran and he was still aware he was in bed). Then it sort of freaked him out. Spooky that.

I never seem to have dreams like stories, just small events, totally pointless things. Does anyone know what these mean or where you can find them out?

As i said before, most of my dreams lately have been extremely realistic. The one i had last night was so not-weird, the only way i could tell it was a dream was because the window in the bathroom wasn't there.

I remembert that I lost a part of my leg(in a dream). Then I put it back on(without stiching) and hunt some bad guys. After I caught him, he was sitting in the office cubicle, he grabbed my broken leg and started to move it really rapidly. There wasn't any pain but thick Light-red subsitnce was coming out, kind of like brain.

I woke up feeling if my leg was allright

Last night I had a dream where I was in a game for no reason and I was exploring a sorta haunted castle, but not really. It was only gloomy outside. Anyway, I walked into this one room, and opened the window, and the wind was so strong that it picked me up and blew me out the window. Then I flew into another of the windows to the castle. Someone on the other side opened the window and I fell back in.

Strange that this dream actually gave me an idea for a game. However, I'm going to wait a while first.
