How to create a texture of a model with transparency? If I export the model as .X format, does all the texture file need to be in PNG (or some other format with transparency like GIF)?

All areas that are 100% black will be transparent in the texture if you swith on the transparency flag in SET OBJECT. Doesn't seem to work until patch 3 though.

What if you want a black area that is opaque? Do I need to put something not 100% black, like RGB(1, 1, 1)?

Transparency doesnt work anyway, even on 0,0,0. I was trying to make a tree model, but I couldn't make the leaves transparent. The texture was 0,0,0 black, and the transparency flag in set object was set but no transparency.

Just another game destroying bug.

I think that's fixed in patch 3... maybe you should look at the set image colorkey command...

If you use the SET IMAGE COLORKEY command, meaning that you need the texture at runtime? How about loading those models in .X format, which already had a texture specified.

SET IMAGE COLORKEY only works with images. The .x transparency bug is fixed in patch3 but has a glitch, as shown in an image in a thread I created in this board about patch 3.
