Printing on top of sprites.... hmmmm... should be easy but apparently it isn't. I fiddled with the draw to front/back and draw sprites last/first etc. Still not sure how to go about printing text on top of a sprite, when i have a background image behind it. So my investigation continues. What do you think Watson?

P.S.: When I use the Draw Sprites First command, Only images and text will appear on the screen. Sprites completely disappear

create a series of sprites as letters then place them as sprites.

the get image command will grab letters into sprite images.

You could try hiding the sprite, but then pasting it before adding your text. The problem is that sprites are now 3D objects and follow their own rules in a 2D environment. Personally, I'm avoiding sprites like the plague, all my 2D stuff is done with paste image. I got so sick of them when making OIE, I have these dogtags with the health, ammo and the name of the character on it, I was drawing the text onto it then grabbing the image again - but ended up scrapping all that, and making a dogtag object instead. I used plains in a row for the text, then textured the plains manually with a grabbed font set (cool stamped letters you see). Anyhoo, if you can do it - use an object instead of sprites because you can put text over the top without a problem, and they look much better IMO - PLUS - no worries about screen resolution differences.

thanks for the advice Van B! I haven't made up my mind about what I'm going to do yet.
