Can someone make a form so all the old people can goto. And
have it to were all the new people just can post in one section.
Every time I come to the forms I see post all about "Help".
Or something dum like How do I make games.

If there was a fourm were just pros can post in all the sections
and all the new people can just post in one section. Also you have to be around for a long enof time to get full access.

So what do you guys think? can someone do it.

I dont know how to spell

I remember a long time ago there was a similar discussion. The thing is, there's no way to know or test if you're a good programmer or not. Also, even good programmers need help, and they shouldnt be afraid to ask it.
People can be around for a long time and still know nothing about coding, while someone who just joined the forum could be very good.
Thus, this also couldnt be a factor.

Just live with it, newbies will always be there. Everyone starts as one, some of them become good programmers, others dont.

I would be unstoppable if I could just get started...

Plus, you're hardly an oldbie-- the forum's been around twice as long as you have if I remember correctly, and that's just the new one, there were 3 before it.

I've been around since the last one. (Dec. 2 2002) Yup, I'm an oldbie.

I could make my own forum similiar to this and give acess to certain users. It's just that I don't want to commit to something unless I'll be able to follow through.

I'd love to have a closed section for people who have at least contributed XX amount of items to the code base and X amounts of games to the showcase.

Well, about this forum for the advanced or those who have a decent amount of experience, I'd say go for it. Problem is, I'd doubt I'd be able to join any time soon...which means I'll be stuck with the n00bs

Hey.. I'm an oldbie, though i think at the VERY beginning I was known as 'Cyberdude934' or whatever.. I have bought 3 versions of DarkBasic so far.. The first CD version,t he first boxed version, and now DB Pro.. I have also been around since the origional site. I think DarkBasic was at v1.03 or something.. Back before even multiplayer commands were in!

I've been here almost a year

And if we did have some kind of "oldbie" section, then it would have to be based on experience, not time spent here.

P.S. I was here during the previous version of apollo, but i can't remember what it looked like

Depends, there have been many DB sites, the oldest 2 had frames (not iframes though) but the previous one for DB and DBP (because they were split of course) didn't have any frames at all.

Slayer - Age has nothing to do with anything. Its maturity level and that doesnt seem very high for you. Most people that dont know my age (16) post thinking that I am in my 20's because of my maturity level.

I kinda forget what the last DB site was like...it was really dark and I think browsing was done on Frames, you click it and they drop down.

Ah. 4Rum. When we were all young and happy. Erm. About 4 years ago or so...

Heh, before the multiplayer commands? Grief, seemed an eternity before they came along (1.5 years wasn't it?). Made DBP seem like a quick frig that came out on time.

i've been here since MARCH OF 2001.

newbies

though i agree with the original intent of the post.. at blitzcoder they've got a "beginner's" forum and a "code wizards" forum for more complicated questions and ideas.. that would be great if that existed here.

Hmm, I think you're going a bit far now. People will never learn if they dont ask questions. You yourself were a noob once, maybe not using DB, maybe you were, I dont know. But its unlikely that you got where you claim to be without other people's help.

No couldent say I hade much help Ive been on the fourms sence
like darkbasic firs came out. Do you ever remember me asking suck
dumb things. Do you remember the name Morales because
that was my fist name that I used. You couldent even compare my code to someone elses. My code is weard, but it gets me to were I need to be.

Try this demo I made. http://www.the3dresource.com/clients/ivan/PATH.zip

I cam up with this weard way to do path finding. but it works!
The only help I got was frome a few people. Thats all. You cant just
keep asking for help all of your life you got to do something your self. And im not talking about you.
