I tried to clean install and go back to patch 2, but it keeps crashing completely every time I try to run my program.

It gives me one of these before it even starts rendering.

CZERO caused an invalid page fault in

While we're at it, why can't DB find the line where an error occured ever?

The only thing I can suggest it make sure that DX8 is installed properly and works okay.

If thats okay, start putting in debugging text

DBS protection system?

From what JimB is saying, it sounds like you may have to delete the DBPro registry entry and then re-install.

I see. Well I got it sorta working...

Here's the line that crashed it:

global shipt1 as string

--Which worked fine before I installed patch 3 then uninstalled db pro and went back to patch 2.
