umm guys. Most of those are really nice and I know that you're just trying to help, but do you honestly think this forum will be a better place when everyone has a 400x125 (or bigger) sig image?
first of all, to keep the quality in those, they require space.

for example, scraggles last post (nothing personal):
Sig : 6681 bytes
avatar: 15565 bytes
under construction: 21953
total = 44199 bytes = 43kb!
that means over 10 secs of wait (on dial-up) for few useless images. and that's just one post!

that website under construction is the worst example of a useless sig image. Not only that images take more time to load, they also fill the page. but if that's what you want... hey, it's your forum. Still, using a dull 20kb image to announce that your website is under construction is just wrong.

and what comes to image editing, there are copyright issues. So you might want to check those before editing screenies or something like that.

@las6

I am sorry that you feel that way but if people want 400 x 125 sigs then people get 400 x 125 sigs.

If it takes you 10 seconds to download one and you find that too time consuming then I have two suggestions for you.

1) Get out of the dark ages and get broadband. My pages open instantly regardless of the number of sigs on it.

2) If you are in an area where broadband is not available or you can't afford it then there is always the option to turn off signature images so that you don't have to wait for them.

Evevrything you see is cached the sigs load almost instantly because instead of downloading them they are instanly transferred from a cache

Yeah, it only downloads them once everytime you clear out your Temp Internet Files. Also, just disable them in the forum options if you don't like them, the choice is there for a reason.

Personally I think they make the forum a more colourful place lol.

Screw that. Do I look like I have a sig that says "I care"?
Yes I admit the "Under constructin" sigs are stupid and just waste space. And yea it does take a while for me to load beause I have a 56k modem.

And Scraggle, not to be rude or anything but the world doesn't orbit around you broadband users. If some of us don't have it, that doesn't mean we are "in the dark ages". Ever heard of people who can't afford it?

yay! i managed to get a cut out of my sig onto my avatar that looks good! the thing is you can put any image that is divisible by 10 into your avatar and it looks good! since my image is 125 tall i had to make the width 120 and the length 120 (of my cut out...) to make it look good...i tried 125*125 but it looked like poop so i had to cut out 5 pixels...

First of all, I do have a broadband, but I'd rather spend the bandwith on something that's a bit more useful.

Quote: "Evevrything you see is cached the sigs load almost instantly because instead of downloading them they are instanly transferred from a cache "

have you ever thought about how many users are there on this forum? And how many sig images in each thread? It'll take quite a while to get all the images into cache. Besides, cache is updated every once in a while.

Quote: "If you are in an area where broadband is not available or you can't afford it then there is always the option to turn off signature images so that you don't have to wait for them"

turning off signature images isn't that good idea, as most people put their links on it. people can release a game and tell you to go to his website... and the link is in the sig. so not a good option.

Quote: "1) Get out of the dark ages and get broadband. My pages open instantly regardless of the number of sigs on it."

First of all, having a fast connection doesn't mean you have the right to be ignorant. Secondly, many people in this world still have a dial-up. and according to the latest surveys in USA, 64% of those who have 56k line don't think about changing it to broadband. the percentage hasn't changed in two years.
