Looking cool! Remember that the wings from behind in the original look like they are bent back a bit(unless thats the dihedrals). Also, to avoid copyright issues, why not call it the Starwing

Always have, never will =)

OMG THAT IS AN AWESOME MODEL! When do you think that you will post your latest demo of what you have so far?

(Edited)

Okay, maybe that isn't the right question. Anyway, what program do you make your models on?

Well Haggis, i've deleted the Arwing test level since it isn't needed no more. So a demo would be a ship in the blue background. Exiciting eh until i can get the Corneria level finished of course.

Second I used Anim8or

Ok here's whats going on so far.....

Firstly I'm not doing a remake for the following reasons.

-Very difficult to get a good reference for the levels and getting the right positioning (since it's 3D)

-Level Matrixs are long (i mean REALLY long like 1000x90000 long (Level editor matrixes can't use Shift matrix up 1))

-No "All Range Mode"! (Best damn thing i tell ya!)

-The Remake would be no different to the actual game and thus nothing new.

BUT this project is Still going on.

I'm going to make my own version of this game this will allow me to be a bit more creative and so i'm going to need to plan it out and make some docs and thus the project will take a little longer but the engine is still more or less finished (added mousemovement for added accuracy and i've updated Arwing physics so it feels just like Starfox64!!)

Things i'm considering:

-Make the game totally in all range mode (Like in Starfox 2)

-Have some sort of objective in each planet (Along the lines of: Find the switch to get to base to defeat boss, nothing too complex)

-Make a new arwing design

Anyways thought i'd just inform everyone in which way this project is going.

-Toodles

Maybe instead of makeing a long matrix and moveing threw it, you could place the objects far way and have THEM move to you.

Ok thought i'd do an update

Firstly I got it in All range mode with some accurate mouse controls which i'm quite proud of.

2nd I ported it to DBPro

3rd of all I added a feature:
Basically I've implemented an interesting idea thats a little different to starfox64, instead of different vehicles for different courses i made it so that with the touch of both mouseclicks
you switch from this:

To this:

(Unfortunately it just straight away changes theres no animation as i suck at it )
thiss will allow for some interesting gameplay variation

I'm still designing some senarios and missions for the game so the game itself hasn't had a major overhaul. But all in all i'm still working on it.

Ok gotta go to sleep.

Yeah that demo is OLD and has glitches, i'm going to remove it as i think it's a hunka poop compared to my latest one. So if it doesn't work it's probably because of this glitch DB has changing resolutions. And i'm not going to release another demo.

Small Note : I love Type Endtype in DBPro, it makes life easier!

I haven't checked this topic in a while, anyway.

Advice errrr well what i do is i set my self little goal to acheive and focus my attention on it. Thats really it, coding wise there's not much i can say as it really depends on how you as a coder organise your work and data. But on a note

TYPE ENDTYPE are your Friends

UPDATE WISE: I've added an enemy AI system so now my game's base is finished completly and now i can focus on making the levels.

Ok i gotz a demo to show, basically this shows how the game will play, I'd like comments on how easy it is to manouver the craft around and how it plays in general. This demo is only here so i can get an opinion on how i can improve/fine tune the movement before i go into building the Main game structure.

Note: I had to remove Vehicle transformation from this demo as it's not working properly for some strange reason(The program ends) so i remed out the command.

Note 2: If you have problems defeating the guy, press 1 to increase your health

Here it is:

okay, aiming with the mouse is now better, though not perfect.
if you're flying above the ground and u're changing cameras, the aircraft(or the camera??) is shaking heavily.i guess this is a camera collision issue.
Did somebody actually managed to shoot down the enemy ?? It's very difficult i would say..

Funny, I get sent to your stored files page, and all I can find in there is Starfoxv02, and it is an early version of your game which has lots of bugs.

Edit: It's not an early version of your game, It just goes crazy on my computer.

nice game so far! I think the controls are pretty nice, but could still use a little tweaking.

now it just needs to become a complete game!

I liked it, but I found that:

o If you do a loop in 3rd person you completely lose sight of the craft

o No matter how hard I tried, I just could not shake that enemy. I think your AI is TOO good. There was no leeway and no way I could swing round and engage it without it following my every move.

o I dragged the craft along the floor at one point, it wobbled and had a bit of a seziure on collision, then it exited back to windows

Its nice to see a project like this, somewhat similar to my planned project. Keep going with it, cant wait to see how it turns out

1- Yeah thats a problem i'm having with the set camera to follow command, im trying to find a way of getting round this .

2- I'm still trying to improve the AI but i agree that it's just too good because i'm still trying to find ways in making AI that doesnt involve it going at the player "Terminator style", i''m hoping to aim for it to evade attacks, circle the player, retreat etc.

3-WTF? <-----i will look into this

my ToDo List at the moment is:

-Fix all problems mentioned above

-find out WTF is making the Vehicle mode screw up and why it throws me back to windows

-Get a fair bit of the media portion done.

Dont worry Pet Rat, i still am, but progress is slow as i got to revise for some GCSE exams but after that i'm going at it at full speed

but here's an update anyway:

-i got the vehicle mode working (YaY!)

-Added underwater sections

-currently remodelling my arwing to go with the NAmco arwing design

Not much i no, but ive mostly been cleaning and optimising the game code.

Ok then

and on a closing note...........

Always check your G-Diffuser systems

Oh yeh, and add an option to use midi music rather than mp3 because I've been working on some music recently and I wanna see how well it fits this game but its in the midi format .

On another note, I was wondering how many tiles there are in the matrix you use... ..
