well you can set the position of the mouse cant you?
and you can read the position of the mouse

have it read the position, change something by using a wierd equation and set the position, it would be crazy

by the way, DB viruses arnt that bad, you just need to spend a very long time blocking exits etc, a better virus would be one that lets u play a game, and the program deletes important files

yeah good, what i'd do is have an equation that sets the cursor at 0,0 then puts + or - a random no. and resdo the cursor, it'll flash around randomly

Well, I dunno if you could call it a virus, but its pretty annoying, copies random files to every folder on your comp, but doesnt wreck anything...

Whilst it does require manual running (as opposed to it being forced on you), it could damage a computer (especially 98/ME), thus isn't allowed.

Hi,
I don't think that it's possible to make a real virus with DB Pro.
The executables are too fat ...
Maybe with PureBasic ...
AnyWay, DarkBasic was not done to make this kind of program

Athlon Barton 2500+ ; 512 Mo DDR2 ; GeForce Fx 5200 Ultra 128 MoDDR.

Um I think I could make a virus with Dark Basic Classic and Dark Basic Pro. It wont be 20 lines or less but it will serve its purpose.

I will post it when I make it. Hopefully should take about 10 minutes.

Nicolas

Um well it wont be a real virus where-as it can think on its own because DB isnt powerfull enough but I could make one that does some funky stuff.

virus creators are the SCUM of coders. their code serves no purpose other than to destroy or disrupt our personal computing harmony. for this reason the DEATH PENALTY for virus writers is too good, i'd cut off their hands and tatoo "LAMER" in big letters on their foreheads. most virus creators use tools and have no REAL coding skills, just like the script kiddies who make java script or VB based chaos spreading apps.

it's not clever, don't do it.

People who make viruses are forcing the industry to change the way we use computers. more and more complex security will bog down our systems and impose greater restrictions on REAL software hacks that do cool things. Remember the NO CUSTOM CHIP demos on the atari ST. this was only possible through an OPEN operating system with hardware which had no built in security measures to prevent accessing parts of the system which had to be 'tricked' into doing the cool things we used to witness on our screens. this is becoming harder because the security measures being placed in our hardware and OS software BIOS etc. won't allow us to do such things any more.

And all this is happening because some LAMERS think that writing virus code is cool. as a prospective games writer, you'r shooting your own feet.

regards, geecee3

Not to sort of contradict what geecee3 just said, but I ACCIDENTALLY created a virus. I made a file in C++, and it created an automatic .pif file for it. The file, now if in view of any program [if you navigate to the containing folder with explorer etc.] restarts my PC. Oh well. The file renamed itself to ||||.pif - i dont know how.

@DWR

It's known to happen, accidental virus creation. And under those conditions it can be classed as an accident. I have myself tinkered around with virus code in order to gain a better understanding of the way these malicious programs actually work. At the end of the day, the code resembles the old POKE a value here PEEK a value there system. and basically force an overflow of sorts to circumnavigate the securities which have been put in place. a good understanding of the OS structure and a fairly complete memory map is all you really need to get into virus creation. but i don't condone the practice in the slightest. I have been using computers since 1981 and the state we have reached now borders on digital Anarchy. Back then it was a world of digital wonders. now you have to watch your step and try not to step in the digital dog poo that litters the digital highways and byways. I also equate the creation of tracking cookie systems, dialing softs and key logging apps to virus creation. we don't want them. but some A55HOLE5 insist on creating them, making our digital lives a bloody nightmare. It's only a matter of time before a LAMER creates a bit of code that costs people their lives. Not a lot of people know this, but last year their was almost a digital world war underway because some bosnian A55HOLE thought it would be cool to pose an an american one day, attacking chinese sites, and posing as an asian the following day attacking american digital intrests. at it's height the CYBERWAR had over 80,000 digital soldiers at war. so the missuse of computers should be frowned upon by everyone.

thanks for your time on this matter, geecee3.

PS. no dig at bosnians, just a valid example.

yea i don't like viuses
i think my brother makes them
since my granpa's computer once was virus free
before my brother stayed the 1 night there now it usually has at least 30 viruses and they keep on coming back cause of security hole my brothers virus made
and i am pretty sure my brother put a virus on my computer the weekend after christmas that made me have to reformat
and he sold my disk that came with my computer to somebody in georgia
so now i keep my computer very secure and make sure that he don't get on it comsidering he wants to know my password everyweek for some "driver update" and when i watch him he usually don't do anything and comes up with some excuse for why he can't install it
since i know a good deal about computers
