OK I tried this in both machines:
sync on: sync rate 0
backdrop on : color backdrop 0
for i = 1 to 500 : make object cube i,10
position object i, rnd(200)-100, rnd(200)-100,300
next i
do
ang = wrapvalue(ang+1)
for i = 1 to 500
yrotate object i,ang
next i
text 10,10,str$(screen fps())
sync
loop
On an amd athalon 1.2 with a Geforce 2 I get 59 fps in db 1 and about 15 fps in db pro.
With fewer objects db2 starts to perform better and eventually with few enough (like under 200) db pro starts to outperform db1 by a lot. I hope the next patch fixes this because lightning fast 3d is useless to me if it's slower with lots of objects. I got's more ghosted plains than the California desert. Please fix it for me for Christmas, for the sake of the planet. Do it for the children...
