one aria that's somewhat gray for me is the data statements, there extreamly long but are they still concidered "one command"? if not then what are they concidered? comments would be appreciated

I consider each data statement to be one command. Of course Rich is the judge, but I think its ok

I posted some classic information on data statements that dates back to 1981 and a commodore vic 20 programmers reference guide. It comes with an example that I touched up (removed line numbers).

That will explain everything you'll need to know concerning data statements.

my question wasn't about data statments themselves and how to use them but the rules concerning there use in the 20 line chalange. But i guess i'm still waiting for Rich to post on this and clear it up, thanks guys!

I would guess that a single DATA statement is ONE command...

I'm sure you could fit all your DATA values on 1 - 3 lines...

But like you said.. Rich is da Rules King!

So we wait.....
