I felt like doing something this weekend so I started to make this red vs blue game , maybe you know those little movies, if not go to http://www.redvsblue.com. just edited a UT2003 level and stole a chief model from polycount for testing, only got the movement and collision code done so far(as my dll is not finished yet I just put something simple up). here are my first screenies:

the level is about 46k poly's and the model about 1200 poly's, still had to put a 60 frame fps lock on it else you'd fly through the level instead of walkin it.

theres too much of a contrast between the sky and fog,

since the sky is clear why is it a marsh green shouldent it be more like light gery/blue

Would be a little more exciting if they were your own graphics.

ya, no offense but... it seems like all you've done so far is take some halo\URT graphics and used them in a game...but i'm sure you've done work on the coding side of it

These models I 'stole' where just for test purposes, these will be replaced with bigger and higher detailed maps and models later on (as a programmer it's a pain in the ass to wait for your modelers to finish some models). Some coding I did is the movement code and aiming etc., collision code and started a LOD system. I hope to be able to use 200K poly's in-game when it's finished. I'm defenatly putting in multiplayer into this game but I don't know about singleplayer. I'll go back to coding now and hope to be able to show you guys some more work.

how come you get so much more attemtion than me when you code something, not dissing you it looks good althought i know personally how easy it is to export halo models and muck around with them and my game got much less atention, (and it only used a halo map for engine testing, we made our own other models).

anyway, moaning over, looks good and i'm sure lots of hard work has gone into this that isn't apparent on the screenshots as well as that that is so i can't wait for a demo to really see what it's like.

heh if you do a RvB game you have to use the words "F*cktard" and "C*kbite" excessivlly.. ( words meant to be refrence from the series... not to offend anyone etc...)

hey, how were you able to get the animation to work with the models that you used from polycount.com, because i also want to test some models and try to use them for tech demos. I got an model that was in the .MD2 format (Quake 2), and then I exported it the .3ds format, but still I can't get the animation to work. I downloaded a MD2 model viewer and I saw all the animations, but I really want to know how to use the animations in DarkBasic Classic and Pro.

@mussi: or it could be your really cool collision system which you are writing which has made everyone interested in your work, anyway, as i said, good work and i posted on the dll as well, you'll have to read it to see what i said.

@the desktops: how did you convert it to 3ds? some programs don't keep the animations

Your game is lookin good Mussi, i have a few questions:

Can we perform CPR when one of our teammates gets a bullet wound on their head?

Also, if we die, can we inhabit other bodies or at least Lopez?

Will there be anychance that Sheila will make it to the game?

You can't export the animation, had to re-rig the model.

Lol fido. you will be able to shoot headshots, but don't expect them to walk around again ^_^

@the desktops :i have lots of conversion progs thx, i was just asking because not all programs convert animations.
i use lithunwrap and truspace3.2, both free and very useful, one for viewing the uv map of a model to texture it and for converting, the other for modeling.

So does UT2003 have a level editor? Cam you make levels in it and then export to .x?

UT2003 has a level editor, and you can export those levels to .obj files and convert those to .x, but you may not use the editor for commercial games.

I've got the lev ed and as far as I know you can only get it if you buy the game although saying that I managed to get a copy of the valve hammer editor used in half life for free of a magazine cover disk so if you have a look around you might find it floating around somewhere.

Mussi, is it still okay to use it for freeware games. Thanks in advance.
