When I type in this line into one of my programs,
The program freezes up. You can still move the mouse around, but there is a black background:
load bsp "","newmap.map"
Why is this? is it just on my computer?

Perhaps you forgot to use sync.
Is this the only code you used?

well it's not because i didn't use sync as if you don't use the sync on command it syncs after every command. And no this wasn't my only code, but the only thing that could have effect is one object I loaded. Do you have to load bsps first?

You are using the wrong file.
The 'map' file is the projectfile for the bsp, you cant use that.
What u have to do is to load the 'map' file into you're
preferred bsp editor and generate the bsp file.

Then correct you're code to:
load bsp "","newmap.bsp"

Note. Dont forget to supply the 'wad' file (textures) along with the 'bsp'.
