well well

1. I'm no nerd (well, I don't look like one...that depends on how a girl looks at me )
2. I repeat, I did this post by curiosity, thinking if the programming world was just a man's territory, but now I see it doesn't, though there's just a few gf/wifes who program & model
3. There's no 3

Most girls I know don't think I'm a nerd, more of a nut case. Anyway, I go to school in the suburbs, and I live in the core area, that's probably what's wrong(Or it's those purple monkeys trying to kill me again!).

As far as I have seen, women doing commercial programming are a pretty low percentage. Of the 90 people who started my Uni Computer science degree, only about 6 were women, and 3 dropped out after a few months to do physics. This was 1991, and (according to people I've worked with since) things may have only doubled over the next decade or so.

When it comes to the workplace, I've noticed there is normally one, or perhaps two (tops) women per programming department (normally around 10 in each department).

So yes, in my experience there are only a small amount of women in programming. And that definitely is reflected here over the years.

And yes, Raven is right, this question (along with how old are you, what is the best game, and join me in programming FF99) is right up there with most likely to annoy quickest.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

I'm not a nerd, but I'm 100% geek, and i'm proud of it!!!!!
Now I get it! Nerds actually look at girls like they're gods to them. Just like me when I was 12-14... Which means.... I'M A NERD!!! EAAAAAAAAGH!!!!! lol

I don't like the gameplay of FFX-2...(ZOE2 is better) But I do like Rikku a lot! (I posted 4 fanarts in Rpgfan)

Quote from the Revenge of the Nerds movie:

"Jocks only think about sports. Nerds only think about sex." - says a nerd (forgot his name) after impressing a jock's girlfriend after... screwing her... because he was wearing a darth vader mask and she thought it was her jock boyfriend screwing her that time... XD

Yeah, I suck at story telling.

Maybe girls would program more if DB came with a Dance Mat!

Girls love those dance Mat Games. My daughter wants 3D gamemaker, but doesn't seem too interested in DB. She does like to draw graphics though.

Maybe there should be a dance mat command in DB, so they can make their own dances. And us guy programmers could use it for, ... um.. absolutly nothing.

You could use a dance mat for a gopher stomping game.

Actually, if there was dance mat support, you could pin it to your wall, and use it to make a boxing game. Punch the sensor to punch in a different direction.

I think the Dance Mat would be usefull in any FPS ... you would have to run instead of having your finger on the Upkey.

Seriously? There's are no girl programmers here? That sucks, dude. I can't believe this. It must be hard for a programmer to get a girlfriend they can relate to. Is that why I don't have a girlfriend?

Most programmers just get girl friends that can't relate to computers and programming. Look at me, I married a country girl from Batangas. Oh well, life can be all ones and zeros.
