I have 3dmax r4, can that create 3ds or .x files with bone animation compatible with DBPRO? If not, what 3d programs do?

3d studio is the best (in my opinion) program for bones animation. You can use models made in 3d studio in DBpro. But i don't know if R4 has a built in .x exporter, cause R2 doesn't...

I got a .x exporter from maxplugins.de and there's loads of programs that can convert .3ds to .x but the models i make in 3dmax won't animate

I have had no problems using Milkshape3D ($20) with the DirectX exporter plug-in found at their web site. It exports .X files and their animations flawlessly. For an excellent conversion and texture tool, do a search for Lithunwrap 1.3 You can still download it at some sites and it is freeware.
