Newcomers DBPro Corner / How do you load a .3ds files into Milkshape 3D? Please help!

Ok. I've heard you can convewrt *.3ds files into .X in Milkshape 3d. I have my .3ds file ready, and the only way I can convert something to a .x to use in my game is with Milkshape 3d. So, to get my file (a pistol) into Milkshape 3d, how do I import it? I know to go to
FILE > IMPORT but then I dont know which type of file format thing to choose. Can someone tell me how to put .3ds files into Milkshape 3d and how to convert them? Thanks!

The option is Autodesk 3ds. If its not on your import list, download it off http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ms3d/download.html

Whatever I did I didn't do it!

Export as 3ds and then use DBs built in converter.

Ok, I know how to export as a .x now, but when I try to load one of my models into MilkShape 3d, I get a message saying thing:

Quote: "Too many faces(17014) or verticies(8770)"


So I cannot load my gun into MilkSHape to make it .x ... And someone else on the forums said it doesnt matter how high the poly number is... But it does in Milkshape, Im assuming. HELP!!!

Well then your busted Where did you make a model that is 17000 polys. Dont even bother using that in DB, your game would go too slow. Thats way too high poly for DB, so there is no need to export it anyways, cuz it wouldnt run in DB.

RPG Gamer, I do have Yahoo and AIM, but do you have mIRC? If you have mirc then go to the IRC info post by Wulfez or whatever his name is, either in the Open forum here or at RGT's open forum... Set up that chat and I will be waiting in it. Get mIRC if you dont have it. I like it!
