This is a little program that will creator a manifest file for any exe you like.

manifest files will make applications have xp style buttons and so on (but they only work with xp)

First of all that will probably only work with API created buttons or with BlueGUI. Second all manifest files that Windows XP has are the same manifest file. Third if you don't have BlueGUI and Don't like/know how to use API then the manifest will do no good. Prove me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure that all manifest files are the same.

Isn't that the general point of the program? To give you XP style buttons? Nowhere did he mention about it giving you the ability to draw buttons

As for the manifest files, I too thought they were all the same, but with a different file name. But good idea anyway

they are all the same - i only made it to save time, because all you have to do is double click the app instead of having to find a manifest file, copy it and the alter the name

What I have been doing was copying and pasting the myapp.exe.manifest file that came with BlueGUI to where I need it.

well this is just designed to save time - if you prefer copying a manifest file and renaming it, then do that

Effectively yes. Looking at the various manifest files on my system, most of them are identical except for the version info (product name etc.) they contain. That of course doesn't have any impact on the visual appearence of the application as far as I know.

props to IanG. I understand what he is trying to do. I used to play a game where you would have to manually open a config file to change the ip address it connected to and I made a program to keep track of your ip list and let you switch between them easily...it was very popular for like a week and then an "official" ip changer came out...(I still used mine )
