I haven't seen any homebrew GUIs out there (or much of anything innovative lately..sorry). So I'm gonna port my gui over and release it.

Thanks Chroma, we could use a decent GUI system for DBP.

NOBODY has a forum name as stupid as Darth Shader. I do.

This is painful. I can't even get a box onscreen and rotate it. I used to be able to do it under DB but what gives?

Here is some code in the little user manual:-

maybe you should try something smaller than porting a Gui.

Specs:- 1GHZ athlon, Radeon8500, 192mb ram, winxp

Maybe you should have worked the project out first before making us happy with a dead bird! (a little dutch saying that is). Can you even program something??

Aren't 12 plug-ins, 5 DLL's and 3 routines enough for you ?

I'll try again...but I'm not promising anything. I'm a Blitz user. I'm finding learning the DB syntax again a little grueling but I'll give it another go.

Can't get much more simple syntax than DBP.

Anyway, the design (heard of design) will more grueling than the syntax. LOL

Show us your design 1st and we'll help out. Kinda like a walk-thru.

Hey!! You talking to me?

I did get the number of DLL's wrong (its 4, not 5), by the way.

For the uneducated, what is XGui and what would porting it to DB mean? After I know I'd be happy to whoop and holler.

A GUI for what? For the program window? For the games? Huh? I've got loads of funky windows style interfaces I've designed for use in games, but surely having rescalable windows, open new program dialogues, webpages, explorer / dos command style things are kinda built into DBPro anyway? Its kinda easy just to package them up with nice graphics? Or am I missing something? Sorry :S

well pretty much, because if you want an actual window you can open new smaller DBPro programs in rescalable windowed modes - you can choose their size and position and everything. The programs can comunicate with each other by simply writing variables to an external txt file, or writing to the clipboard. There are loads of basic file editing, reading, annalyzing commands in DBP as well, so it makes it very easy and quick to make a nice GUI quite quickly

That said I often draw faux windows with boxes and sprites, especially as you can split the screen and put different multiple resizable cameras in them, ala the Sawyer "Tycoon" games.

If any1 wants help with such things I'll make a tutorial when I have time
