I'd basically decided to buy DBPro, so I downloaded the demo just to be sure all worked ok...

I loaded up the main editor and opened the face demo. When I tried to run it (debug mode), I got the following error message:

---------------------------
DarkBASIC Pro Project: DBPCompiler.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x01cdc5a2" referenced memory at "0x01d4bbc4". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

After that, nothing runs. I rebooted my PC and tried again - Same thing happened! Anyone else experienced this or similar problems? Does this mean DBPro is never going to run on my (pretty standard) PC?

My PC consists of: P4 1.7, 512MB RAM, 80Gb HD, Geforce3 64Mb, SB Audigy, Windows 2000 SP3.

TIA.

Daze.

Does it run in normal mode?
Does it effect other demos when you run in debug mode?
Do you have DX8.1 installed?
Do you have reasonably recent drivers for your graphics card?

Specs:- 1GHZ athlon, Radeon8500, 192mb ram, winxp

Hi Haggisman,

I have the 41.09 Nvidia drivers and DirectX 9 installed. Are there any known problems with DBPro and DX9?

I've just tried normal mode and the same error message popped up [sigh]...

try removing this line:-

set reflection shading on 501

DX9 may cause problems with the shaders.

Yes, it seems that DX9 does cause problems with the shaders.

The FaceDemo only works on my full copy of DBP with Set Reflection Shading disabled. Under DX8 it worked fine.

NOBODY has a forum name as stupid as Darth Shader. I do.

Thanks Haggisman - Worked a treat. I wonder how long it will be before DBPro is DX9 compatible?
